Just ordered a new Artisan....

Placed my order this morning for a custom putter from Artisan. John was very nice and told me roughly 4 week lead time until completion. Cant wait to get this into the bag!

Black PVD shaft with Artisan black leather grip, Black leather headcover with white embroidery and initials

Rounded off 0217 stainless deep milled head with chameleon pearl finish

Titanium bucket hosel mirror polished (plumbers neck)

white dot on top line and white line on back flange for alignment

Torched finish back name plate, screws and weights with white paintfill

initials milled into face around star logo.

I found a photo of this one online to give a general representation but mine will be a bit different obviously with shaft and milling differences.

That's gonna be nice, if I ever find myself around Artisan HQ I'm definitely going to do a putter fitting

Post the finished product?

Artisan shut down with the Covid-19 protocols and just reopened last week. They're back working on the putter currently. Texted with John over the weekend and they were prepping for the chameleon finish on the head, then the torched finish on screws, backing plate, and weights.

Will definitely post photos of the finished product!

honestly there is no one in canada who offer this kind of service. If i ever go the U.S. near the artisan hq, i must book a fitting. Congrats looks awesome

We have 2 putter makers in Canada that I know of. The US has dozens of people milling putters.

I'd just take more people making putters up here or I better learn how to design soon.

Who?

SGC putters (Nova Scotia) and Geom Putters (Victoria) but Garrett at geom is taking a step away from the putters world for a time period. Hopefully short but both shops do great work.

Ill trust my putter work to John Hatfield at Artisan any day of the week. Those guys have been top notch to deal with. I truly think MT and JH and all the guys there look at their work as creating works of art rather than just golf clubs. They definitely take pride in their business.

Pics of putter? I plan on ordering a Artisan putter next week. Trying to decide what finish I want to get. Like them all.

Those look great. Are they both Carbon (oxidado and blue bonnet). Do you prefer the 0217 or the 0117. I wish I lived close to Dallas so I could test in person but that is really not an option for me at this point. I know the specs I need just going back and forth on style, carbon or Stainless and finish choice. Thanks for posting.

But that's a sweet collection of Artisan gear there. Loving the finish on both putters.

Both are Carbon.

0217 is mine and I love it, had it for over 2 years. The 0117 I got as a present for my dad back in December; he only just got it 3 weeks ago and so far he loves it, he went from a very similar 2004 Scotty, I don't like the slant neck.

In the fitting I was shocked how much difference the weight made - mine is 370g and my dads is 340g both were better for each of us on distance speed control.

I could not really tell the difference in the milling on feel but others can feel it big time - I went mid mill to average it out.

My loft is 3.25* and length 35.25 inches. John was amazing with the details.

I hit one putt with the mallet and John grabbed it from me and said, yep mallets are not for you(back when there was only one mallet and it was a Proto)!I am kind of jealous of my dad oxidado but both will last well over time, I have probably lost half the finish now on the bottom but spotless everywhere else.

Well shoot. Maybe I need to wait for everything to calm down and make a trip down to Ft. Worth. I will probably end up buying one In the meantime. Would love to go through a wedge fitting and make sure the putter is 100% dialed in. I’m pretty sure I know my specs. Been fitted inside on SAM’s and outside (2 different fitters) and recommended specs were almost identical. Thank you for sharing your story.

curious - why did you not like the slant neck?

One thing about the loft - the putter is milled to the loft; not like other companies where the loft is bent in from a standard head.

Never like them. A putter has to look good for me. Plus I have been plumbers necks for years and years before that!

Thank you for the info on the loft being Might have to go visit my cousin in Denton and pop on down to Ft. Worth. I think I may put my down payment down and talk to John to see if he can give a good recommendation based on SAM results and video of me putting. Keep telling myself this will be the last putter I ever buy. Thank you again for your posts.

I received the putter and have been using it religiously since its arrival. Had one of my best putting performances ever this past sunday. Had a rough day off the tee on the front 9 and posted 42(+6) on the front. Squared things away and shot 34 (-2) on the back (27 total putts) only hit 4 fairways and 6 GIR all day from 7145yds.

I went with the chameleon finish. It really does change based on lighting and angles.

That looks awesome. I did a wedge and putter fitting with them last week and I can’t speak highly enough about all the guys there. Now the wait for my new toys begin.

Really like the numbers on the toe. Seems like might be easier to see in bag. Have you found that to be the case? Joining the Artisan gang in few days!

Yes that's why I did it, was chatting to Jamie about where to put the numbers and he suggested that. Originally I was going to go no numbers and just colours or dots. I like to be as clean as possible.

It works for me at least - I like to walk.

I have a question on the Artisan face milling, I find it very visually appealing and would love it on a putter but when they mention the feel do they just change the depth of that face milling? I've seen them do traditional fly milling on some putters but more for prototypes.

You have your choice when ordering custom from Artisan on the milling. Smooth, light milling, medium, or deep milled. The deeper the milling the "softer" the feel. Sound is feel, so with it milled deeper, there is less surface area contacting the ball and thus a quieter audible sound at contact and the perception of a softer feel. They build it to your desires. John Hatfield is just so damn good at his craft.

I'm well aware of how milling changes sound and feel. But Artisan posts the same milling as above on all their putters, I know they offer others but don't know if they look different or if they do the same style or at different depths. Or if someone asks for light milling they just do a simple fly milling.

Their website covers every other little options expect face milling, I know a lot of guys the look of the milling even plays into their decision that's why I asked.
