Stamping Wedges With Shaft Attached

New to forum. Do I risk damage to epoxy holding club tougher if I stamp my wedges with the shaft attached?

Just make sure the head is laying flat on the face, ideally on steel (wood will give and the stamp wont be as effective) only the head is taking an impact, I've stamped all of mine while shafts were attached. I just use a couple of those blue shop rags between the face and the surface I'm using as a base, so I dont marr the face.

Use a heavy hammer hold the punch straight and give it a good whack, much easier to only have to stamp each letter once... if the stamp is weak make sure its lined up perfect before you whack again or you'll get that double transfer look which sucks.

No you do not. It is, however, much more inconvenient to stamp clubs with the shaft it. Especially if your work area is in a confined area. Funny how walls and bench tops get in the way all of a sudden.

Fantastic thank you for the feed back. I have plenty of room in the work shop and have a nice sized bench vice with a large flat section on the back side that will do just fine. You input is very help full and greatly appreciated..

I make sure the club face is perfectly flat on a surface, but I also try to rest the end of the grip on something as well so it helps keep the position of the club and makes it easier to handle.

Double sided tape is a useful trick for this. Keeps the head relatively still on the surface you place it on.

Can anyone recommend a good stamping set from somewhere like Amazon? Any issues with stamping plated irons?

Young Bros. - a little pricier, but will give you the sharp definition you’re looking for in stamping. DO NOT use the cheap ones from Amazon and especially don’t get the ones from Harbor Freight.
