You would think by now, any mentally competent adult would know NEVER to post anything that could be considered controversial online, but it seems to happen with frightening regularity.

I wish Scott Piercy nothing but success. The people who made the decisions to terminate his contracts probably have said worst things among friends in private. Scott will rise from the ashes, shame on his former endorsers.

And they would all have been terminated for doing the same thing SP did.

As I said, in private. How can you be terminated for saying something for example among friends in your own home? I wish Scott the best, because he is being unfairly demonized. People have done worst and said worst. Get over it

Yes others are probably saying worse in private (private, not on a worldwide social media platform). Should have bit his tongue and known better!

A. Not sure I would classify his situation now as in "ashes"...I think his life will be fine.

B. Don't think he's been "demonized" as well.

He violated his contract and he got dropped...it's really as simple as that.

Not sure why folks have to hyperbolize this on either side of the issue. But that's what we do these days with everything.

He wasn't terminated for saying something in his own home among friends. As you said, people say far worse things all the time.

Take some vile stuff that you (or I) have said to friends. Wouldn't you expect to be fired if you posted the same thing on social media or said it in person in front of a gathering of people and children?

But, what he did was NOT in a private setting, actually quite far from it. What he said was in front of 17.2K (according to his current follower count) not in private, not in his own home. If you had somebody endorsing you, likely with a contract that says you won't do anything that could harm that brand less you be let go, and did the same, I would be more surprised that the brand did NOT let you go than anything. You are entitled to say whatever you so chose in whatever setting that you want to, but when you're saying it in front of very large numbers of people, you need to be more aware that consequences may come with it.

This is a story because Scott Piercy is a pro golfer. People has said worse on same issue and there was no outcry. He said what he said now let him live his life. I don't have friends who are that sensitive and cannot take a joke. That being said I don't do the social media thing.

He is living with his consequences this forum keeps the fire burning. One was locked this morning and this was started shortly afterwards. Scott Piercy is a great guy and family person who said the wrong words on social media. Can we get over it?
