After the promising win in Japan and playing well at the Presidents Cup, Torrey, really disappointing that he's pulled out of so many events already. I get he's old, bad back, etc. but wonder if he'll be ok by the Masters.

Does it seem like its more than just tightness/soreness? I mean with the medical staff he has access to you'd think that could be worked out?

Sounds like he is putting all his eggs in the Masters basket (assuming there isn't a bigger back issue they are covering up). Gonna be a big let down though if he flops come April.

It sounds like something is more amiss than being tired and sore from travel and a couple of tournaments.

I am a fan and always try to be positive and optimistic, but this is not good at all i fully understand this is the new Tiger a d we would not be seeing much of him anymore, but for him to miss these two tournaments is a bit ominous.

Worried for the future, absolutely thrilled we had the past three wins at least and he’s tied for most PGA wins. Awesome to watch the GOAT.

Honestly : how many guys are capable or a threat to beat TW at Augusta...I figure maybe a dozen maybe even half dozen if he hets near the top of the leaderboard on Day 1 or 2...I won't bet against a healthy TW at Augusta but I dont think he can play two huge tournaments in a row right now from a physical standpoint. As long as he is hitting balls in Jupiter then he is coming loaded for bear and ready to fire on all cylinders...If he isn't practicing back home then stop the presses,Houston we have a problem

Any World ranking experts know with DJ out what his divisor looks like if he does not play ? any consideration for resting but also a math exercise to make the olympics (his only chance really)

That really bites. Part of me thinks he should save his body for majors only. The other part of me just wants to see him compete whenever golf is played.

They are all banking on the Masters repeat. It's all a big American wrestling show.

If you’ve never had back surgery, much less 4 including a fusion, you have NO CLUE. Gentleman, take care of your back at all costs. Best of luck TW.

It's extremely difficult to win any golf tournament, let alone Majors, if you haven't been able to properly prepare. Compare how Rory has aligned his game going into April vs how Tiger is having to do it. Who's more prepared to win between the two? Tiger was able to play leading up to the Masters last year. He stopped being able to play leading up to the other Majors last year and look how he finished in them. I don't think he can win unless he's able to put in the proper practice and being Tournament sharp is part of the deal, even if you're Tiger Woods. It's a shame because he's really seemed to find his swing when healthy.

I fear that we have seen the last of TW in competition. Taking this much time off due to re-occurring back problems, after a seriously major operation does bode well. Even if by some chance he's even hitting balls and limited practice, he would really not be ready for a major. Hopefully I'm wrong, but after having back surgery myself, my body and my game were never the same. The mind still wants to do one thing, while the body seems to have it's own concept of how it's done and rarely do the two match up. TW has an amazing mental fortitude, but even that won't be enough to over come all that pain and stiffness that comes with a serious back issue.

Wow that hurts. My fear is that we will only see Tiger 6 to 8 total events per year. Perhaps less. The way he play the Masters, Zozo and at the Presidents Cup gave many hope of 19 and 83.

That stinks. His swing and short game were just coming together. Hope he can still play practice rounds at least and stay loose.

Sometimes rest and light exercise makes a huge difference. Ive been there. Everybody responds differently. Im 100% sure hes doing extensive stretching and resistance band work.I like that hes been up front saying hes stiff and his back wont let him. thats what i thought when he said he wasnt travelling to mexico. I trust he will do whats right for him. The new major schedule sucks for him though, so condensed

this condensed schedule sucks, there are no breather weeks, guys have to take a break...conversely someone could get hot and.....lets just say if this schedule were around in TW's hey day je would have won the Grand Slam, maybe even more than once

I think Tiger is trying to avoid flaming out like he did last year

I am not throwing anything at tw at all, this is a general “sports” question, but if you were on the IR list, do you still get drug tested? Like could you run a hormone stack and then clean up and come out and play after “recovery”
