One of the year's best fields gets together this week for one of the biggest events of the year.

COURSE: TPC Stadium Course a par 72 masterpiece of 7189 yards. It was designed by Pete Dye who passed away earlier this year.

FEDEX CUP POINTS: 600 the same as the four majors

PURSE: $15,000,000 with a first place check of $2,700,000, the largest official prize money on the PGA Tour

OWGR: This is the PGA Tour's designated tournament. The first place points are 80, the fifth biggest amount in the world.

I hope the wind isn't too strong, 3 weeks in a row of very tough scoring wouldn't be ideal as a spectacle.

Interested to see how Jon Rahm goes after last year.

Looking forward to it more this week than I have for a good little while. Last year I was still trying to figure out life with a new baby and the years before that when it were in May, it coincided with a big golf weekend that we and a few clubs have so I never really got to watch it. I’ll echo what Old Tom has to say though, hopefully the conditions will be conducive to some low scoring. The mini US Open’s that we have had the last couple of weeks have been a grind to watch.

I'm loving the windy tournaments, it's brought some really good competition and I like seeing them have to really think about shots. Hitting 7 irons from 140 into the wind and hitting 8 irons 220 with the wind. The variety and shot making is fun to see

I have never been but always have wanted to. Im strongly considering making the 16 hour round trip trek to see Friday/Saturday. Is it worth the trip?

I agree. He appears to be playing the kind of golf that's successful at TPC Sawgrass.

Great field, hate the course. Never bought into the hype, everything about it is overdone and gimmicky to me.

But I'll watch - the competition and the field certainly mitigate the venue IMO.

And he's hungry.

I don't drink, but if I did. A "better than most" game could cause serious harm or even death.

Agree. I think the course is one of the reasons the Players has never achieved major status. It just looks like it was forced onto the land, which basically it was.

I agree its over the top at times but I'd never go as far to say I dislike it. Its a great course to watch golf on.

I love Tiger, but I'd be really happy if I never saw/heard that clip ever again

That guy is a stud. I particularly like how awkwardly goofy he is. Like the nerd in the math class who schlumped in and out, didn't talk much, disappeared in 10th grade because he was attending MIT. Yet he has game, and cajones de acero.
