Are you a Fan-boy?

As things have come and gone in bag, including the bag, I'm starting to be the poster boy for Ping and I'm not even trying.

Had ping irons I got from a friend. He was a better player than me, but these easily hit better than my old Silver Scotts. When it became time to replace my rusted Cleveland wedge I had the CBX in mind. During Demo it felt pretty dead. Then I hit the Glides. Added a Glide 2.0 gap to my bag. Last season I was walking by a Play it Again Sports and stopped to check out their bags. My Burton Hiker was getting old and just wanted to peek at the offerings. Albeit quite dirty, I didn't see any flaws in the Ping J Bag they had out front. $30. Snatched it up and hosed it off... perfect shape. Found a G30 driver head snapped off a shaft. Tossed onto my Speeder shaft to try against my R11. It made the cut. Messed around with some trade deals and wound up with a Ping tour 60 wedge and an i20 17* rescue. Last week left CC with a new set of i500s fitted to me.

So that's 11 clubs and a bag. I have a Cleveland 54, an RBZ 13* 3 wood and a Bettinardi putter. Should I ask for sponsorship?

How many clubs of X brand are you carrying and is it intentional or just seemed to happen?

Ended up a Cobra fanboy by accident I suppose, lol. Bought the Forged Tour irons when I found a deal I couldn't pass up - was impressed. Looked at their wedges, was impressed and bought two. Later added a F9 driver, then a F8+ 4-wood. 13 Cobra clubs in the bag now.

Had never owned or really considered Cobra much prior to getting my irons.

I think everyone has their brand preferences for certain areas of the bag. For me, I think certain brands do drivers better than others, or irons better, etc.

I’ve tried the whole “one brand” through the bag thing, but inevitably I find one area where that brand lacks for me. Then my OCD won’t let me have just a single club from a brand, so I switch to a multi-brand setup.

That being said, if you’re dying to stay one brand, not many do it better than PING or Titleist with all the options you’d have available.

It’s funny that you’ve found your way to a nearly all PING bag, because, despite all the praise PING has gotten, I can just never seem to mesh with their products at all. Only one that worked for a bit was the G400 LST, but nothing else so far...

Same. I haven't really played PING since my first iron set of i5's. I've been a Titleist/mizuno fan since. Rented a set at a course out of town and tried the G410 woods. Loved them so much I bought The driver /hybrid. A couple months later I got a free fitting for irons and wedges. I walked in wanting mp20 mb's and vokeys. I left with blueprints and glide forged. Now I'm sitting here thinking "man I should probably buy an off brand 3 wood or DI so I don't look like such a fanboy". So I'll probably get a TMB 2i and maybe a vokey lob wedge so I can defend myself from the snarky comments.

Not really a fan boy of any particular brand, but kind of walked into it with Srixon irons (745's) and the RTX4 wedges. I'm now a big Srixon fan, but have always played Cleveland wedges. However, Driver (Callaway) and 3 wood (Taylormade) round out the bag. Putter is a little more difficult as I bounce between SC and Odyssey.

Back up set....Ping Irons, Titleist woods.

I believe the proper spelling is Fanboi - I have been a PING fanboi all my life, but currently only bagging Glide 3.0 and putter.

I think it may be my OCD and i'm more of a simplest/traditionalist type so that's why i've stuck with Titleist for years. they're not as gimmick as other brands. I would like to test the waters when it comes to irons (Srixon, Mizuno) but i'm content with my bag for now.

I'm an unapologetic Ram fanboi. Been playing Ram Tour Grinds for most of the last 19 seasons. Have many Ram wedges, Tom Watson models, TG-898s, and some Troon Grinds. Used to have Ram Concept Low Profile fairway woods. Have a Ram TW Custom putter, a Wizard 600, and a Wizard 610 nickel. And, several Ram persimmons that get play from time to time.

Have thought about getti mg a Ram stainless, or even 90s Ti, driver, like a bore thru model, or the Formula X titanium. Not for collecting, I'd probably play them.

Could do similar with Mizuno, but my fanboi-ism for them isn't as strong. I'm only lacking the driver and a SW, may pick up a T Zoid driver to fill that gap.

I wanted to be just because and intentionally worked to go all Taylormade last year. I could go all Ping, all Titleist, and maybe all Mizuno now they have some nice putters.

I think the only brand I am a fanboy of now is Bettinardi....

But I think PING & Titleist makes some of the best stuff out there that flat out performs and my sleeper pick is Cleveland for their wedges. Pleasantly surprised by them.

Not sure the term fanboy is always on target.Fanboy assumes an irrational element to the choice.

Last few years Callaway and Tour Edge have dominated my bag for perfectly logical reasons. That said, I have a Ping putter (three of last four have been Ping) and a pair of excellent Cobra FlyZ hybrids in the mix.

Over the long run, I find that Callaway and Tour Edge both "fit my eye," namely clubs are easy to get accustomed to, and to use. That said, I try out Mizuno and Ping on a regular basis, and find they make interesting equipment.

Basically, the top OEMs all make excellent equipment. I just don't have time to try out 20-plus iron models each spring.

As my signature says, I’m big fan of Wishon products.

The only OEM that I am currently interested in is PING. I played the i500 last year and have been playing mostly PING putters since the 70’s. The woods are also very comfortable to me.

For customer service, I have had outstanding service from Wishon and Diamond Fold International.

PING has also typically done very well, with only minor issues which they addressed.

No, at least not intentionally.

My woods (driver, 3 wood and 2iron hybrid) are made by Taylormade (2018 M3 440cc 9.9 degree tour issue, 2018 M4 small head 15 degree, SLDR TP 19 degree)

My irons (3-E) are 1999 Ben Hogan Apex blades

My GW and SW are Scratch Golf 52 and 58 degree

My putter is a Byron Morgan Epic Day Long Pipe

It seems I might be a slight fanboy when it comes to types of clubs (woods, irons, wedges),

Driver:  TaylorMade 300 Mini 11.5° (10.2°), Fujikura Ventus Blue 5S Velocore

3W:  TaylorMade M4 15°, Graphite Design Tour AD DI 7S

Hybrid:  TaylorMade Sim2 2 Iron Hybrid 17°, Mitsubishi Tensai AV Raw Blue 80 stiff

Irons:  Mizuno Pro 223 4-PW, Nippon Modus3 Tour 120 stiff

LW:  Scratch Golf 1018 forged 58° DS, Nippon Modus3 Tour 120 stiff

Putter:  Byron Morgan Epic Day custom, Salty MidPlus cork grip

Grips:  BestGrips Augusta Microperf leather slip on

Doubt. PRGR woods, Masda irons, Honma long irons, Eon wedges, Piretti putter. A japanese flea market golf bag to go along with my flea market golf swing and technique.

However, if I could be a fan boy of a brand, Ping would be it other than putter and wedges. They just make awesome stuff

I was always a Titleist guy through my entire bag except for the putter. That was until the release of the M2 in 2016 and the JPX 900 Forged. Now the only Titleist are my hybrid and my Vokey wedges. I’m just playing what works best for me and my game now. If I find something that is better and I have the cash then I will switch. Hit the Callaway Apex Pro 19 dots today and they were very solid, but too much $$.
