Anyone play steelfiber i125 in wedges ??

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Just as the title states, I'm putting them in a set of mizuno s18 heads I have ,

Play the 110cw stiff in my irons , played x100 and Ctaper for a number of years and usually just put 8 iron shafts in my wedges same as my irons.

But after a failed experiment with recoil shafts,(initially thought I liked them 95 F5) dispersion over the season was terrible.

Just looking for an insight on how they feel compared to my usual wedge shaft choices ??

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply , I like the feel of the irons good strong feel at impact, just dont want it to be a super harsh feel round the greens with the i125.

I suppose giving it a trial period is really the only way to know for sure.

I have the i125's in my 56 and 60 wedges. I rarely use them for full shots, and I like the weight and stability of them. I have the i110's in the rest of my irons, however, and I'd be hard pressed to tell a major difference other than the weight.

I wouldn't say they're harsh around the greens at all, but I prefer a stiffer/heavier feeling club, anyway.

I put them in on a whim based on some of the comments around in the forums regarding having a heavier shaft in the wedges. Turns out, I'm a fan, luckily. They're an expensive "try," lol.

That was for what I was hoping , I have always been the same I like a heavy stiff shaft in my wedges for dispersion on pitches , and never had any trouble with the feel or touch shots.

I really like the vibration dampening, I have arthritis in my hips and elbows from years of contact sports. (Only 28) so I can see these being a winner for me especially since short game and pitching is a big part of my practice.

Thanks for the reply.

That's good to here , the recoils I was playing before were great for the vibration dampening but just felt loose even in the short pitches , that's why I made the move to steelfiber in my irons , will be going this route.

I had them in 3 pings, they are amazing ... better feel than 110 and 95

denser is a great term ... and they are not boardy ... and they are accurate as all get out

I just moved to recoils to match my 919t’s

I’ll echo the dense description. I played i95 in irons and i125 in wedges for a few years and really liked them. Also tried i110 in wedges but preferred the i125 for sure. Have been using Modus 115/125 in wedges now, mostly because I also like their feel and they’re easier to find.

Yeh , these will be going into the wedges for sure, I really think I'll enjoy the heavier feel.

I think I will really like these love the feel of the 110cw for my irons , and back to a heavier feel for my wedges will be welcomed.

My club builder stocks aerotech so I have no problem there.

Thanks for the replies.

I played i125 X in a set of MP20’s and loved them. Had a great snap to them when swinging full. I switched to Z785’s for more forgiveness and didn’t want to waist my time and money finding another set of steelfibers. Moved to Nippon 120X but loved the mid flight / low spin of the steelfibers.

Late to the party...

I put i125 stiff (been using DGS in irons) in a Scratch 8620 53* last year.  Rather liking it, club responds well to all sorts of shots, partial or full.

As for the shaft itself, it feels like a more stable version of DG to me.  I admit it's possible it's power of suggestion, having seen the Wishon Profile data, which shows it's DG-like with a stiffer bottom half.

Color me a fan
