Sub70 Utility Iron

I'm looking to finish out my bag and have nothing between 6 iron and 18 degree hybrid... I'm thinking a 24 degree Sub70 utility iron might be the ticket. Anyone have any experience with their utility irons? I need to fill the distance from 190-240 and have 2 spots left... I'd like something I can hit off the tee into long par 3s, that also works off fairways and is my go to punch club.

I hit one at the Chicago Golf Show and liked it. It was a lot easier to hit than other utility irons I’ve tried and the face is hot. I have a set of their irons and really like them. I was just at their facility getting an adjustment on my irons and took a few more swings and will probably buy one once I see how this adjustment works on my irons. This is a great company to work with and you can demo the club for $20 if you want to.

I’ve been interested in the new 699pro, but they aren’t available for demo, or sale yet, although I’m not big on black irons, but if they fit what my objective is, then why not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve been thinking about demoing the 699, but I think it would be be doing the club I want (699pro) justice, since I want a specific shaft, and the 699’s have too much offset for my liking!

I played the 639 mb irons last year and they make great clubs. I just saw the post above mentioning Jason and I was gonna say that too.. He gives out his cell and email to contact directly with any questions and he will do whatever it takes to make sure you're happy with the product

Yeah, I like to support smaller golf companies... I just replenished my wedge collection, so I am going to wait until April, I think... but will likely pull the trigger on the 24 degree utlity and see how it goes.

I'm very tempted to buy a full set one day. Great looking clubs. Hoping the Utility works for me!

How is the finish hold up on the Sub 70 irons and wedges, I've been thinking about a 699 set?

I’ve had mine since the end of July. They only got a few weeks of outdoor play with them because of a couple of surgeries. Since the beginning of the year I’ve been playing in a simulator league twice a week and the finish has held up just fine.

Pulled the trigger on this today. More to support a small business than anything else.

small businesses are going to get hammered by this... only way for them to survive is for people to support them now. It’s only $120 in revenue, but I’m hoping it helps a little.

Yeah, that seems to be a large struggle for manufacturers and golfers... it’s expensive to make a mold, so you have to sell clubs to make it worth it, so they don’t make left handed, so left handed golfers don’t buy anything so they can’t afford to make left handed clubs...

no real easy answer for that one... unless you can figure out how to make a mold that works either direction!

yeah it’d be nice for some of the direct to consumer brands to make left handed items so we could save some money and not have to buy from large OEMS

Club molds run aroun 10 grand, I think... it’s a pretty large investment when you aren’t selling a ton of clubs.

Swapped a few emails with Jason then placed my order online while talking to him about a technical question. I wanted something between 3 Iron and 3 wood. Had one bent to 18 so he had to notate that since there isn't a place for notes in the ordering process. Waiting isn't a big deal. I probably won't be able to get back out until mid April anyways for obvious reasons more than the weather in Nashville.

Got my 699U today also. Got a 17* bent to 18 with a UST V2 Black X shaft in it. Should fill my strange gap between 3 wood and 3 iron on par 5's and 220-240ish par 3's I stumble upon.

Nice! I’m hoping the four iron fills the gap between my 18 hybrid and my 6 iron... went up to four as I’m eyeing the whole iron set once I’m confident in my employment.

Got to play yesterday. Around 40*, cloudy and a north breeze so my layers of clothes kept me from getting a solid swipe at it. For the price, I'm really impressed. Conditions we played in were a whole club more all day. My release wasn't releasing so I lost one or two right as my draw didn't work. Hoping my next round won't require thermals, beanie, and a fleece. Hated to pull my 56* but really didn't miss it in the conditions.

I have been playing my 699s for a bout a year now. The finish looks good. I"m not the best at cleaning up my clubs after playing but my profile picture is a pic of my 699s after I did some pain tfill about a month ago. I will just say I liked my 699s so much that I got rid of my RTX4 wedges in favor of 3 Sub70 wedges. I have ZERO regrets.

I might have to pull the trigger on the 699s soon... I really like my utility iron... Ended up buying another Sm6 wedge on the cheap as a filler (lost one of mine over the weekend... it might still turn up)

I really like the black! I spent my golf budget on a Garmin S62 this month, though... maybe next month... I've just never loved a players distance iron due to feel.
