Burner TP
I have been testing and playing around with all the neww balls this year (Srixon ZURS, Tour ix, B330S, Tx4) and finally gave the Burner TP a whirl today. I have to say that this ball in my oppinion is if not better than most of these, damn near close. I swing around 105-110 with the driver and on every shot this ball had the best feel out of all those balls. It felt so smooth w/out having that no control feeling due to the smoothness. With the short irons and wedges (full swing) the ball would hit and stop. The little touch shots around the green were actuall pretty nice, they rolled but not anything like a rock, they had a nice amount of check to them to slow them down enough. That ionomane cover or whatever it is (urathane and ionomer mix) is pretty nice.

But the best parts were that off the tee the ball didn't spin back when it hit i actually got some nice roll with these.

One more bonus they are 25 bucks.

All in all i have gotten pretty comfortable with this ball especially for the money.

have not tried the tp red or black yet.

Anybody else find this ball to be up there?

Agreed TMMatt,

This ball really plays like a pro v but doesn't spin so much off of the driver and feels better on all shots including the putter. :swoon2:

I like the Burner Tp as well.

Great distance, straight off the driver, nice soft feel and they hold the green with enough spin.

Best non-premium (ie non $45/doz) ball out there.

I have tried them all this year (NXT Tour, E5+,E6+, Trispeed, AD333, Ignite, HX Hot) and they are the best for me.

WCGC72BE9, yeah i don't care for the rest of those too much especially the nxt tour's. Every year i give em a try to re-convince myself and every year i am pissed at myself for buying them. The NXT Tour's really just have too much spin off of the driver and they do not have that great of a feeling

I like the Burner TP's and have been playing them pretty much all year this year. Interestingly enough, when I ran my numbers through golfballselector dot com recently the Burner TP came back as the number one pick for me. Go figure. I'm not getting quite as much stopping power on the greens as I like but it's close. That's the only negative I can say about this ball.

I was low on balls a couple weeks ago and didn't remember until the evening before I was going to play so I had to run in to Sports Authority to pick up a box as it was the only place available. No Burner TP's so I picked up a box of regular Burners to try. I was shocked to see almost identical performance to the Burner TP's around the green with a bit more distance and a softer feel due to the lower compression. I think I'm going to game the non TP's for awhile and see if this was a fluke or not. Anyone else notice this?......

Someone in another post had the same experience. Another player said he preferred the non-TP Burner.

I looked up the stats in the Golf Magazine Ball Test.

Burner and Burner Tp were idenctial off the driver. (254 yards which were among the longest)

TP spun at 10,894 rpm off a SW, Burner was at 9,242. Not a big difference really. (Callaway Tour ix was 9,990, E6+ 7,651)

I have been playing the TP mostly. Played a Burner for a few rounds. Hard to see much difference.

Both are quite durable.

Do you think the non-Tp Burner holds the greens as well? That would be my biggest concern.

hrm, i'd say that almost 18% more spin would be noticeable, but i've not played the Burner so i haven't compared them side-by-side. i'm willing to bet though, that based on those numbers, it's likely that there is a good difference between the two with respect to partial wedge spin performance.

As i said b4 in the original first post, i have tried all including the tour ix. Does the tp really have a higher spin rate with the wedge? If this is even 99% accurate there are a lot of people wasting money on balls that don't perform like these. Atta boy TM...im not a fan of your clubs but you have definitely got the golf ball figured out quite well.

As I understand it, theses are the updated Maxfli Tour Fire. I tried one box, and they play and feel very similar to the Tour Fire's I've been playing. Great distance, solid feel, and just the right amount of spin into the green. When my $19 a dozen Tour Fire's run out, I'll switch to the Burner TP.

Love the Burner TP! Love the identical Maxfli Tour Fire!

ALSO-- The non-TP Burner is GREAT! I fully echo what was said previously. 100% I think it's a real performer and feels awesome! It's a tad longer than TP version, it sticks with short clubs, TP does spin a tad more, and nonTP putts really softly...but has a nice CLICK still. The #1 SLEEPER OF 2008! Easily the most bang for the buck.

I played the Burner yesterday along with the Bridgestone e6+. I found the e6+ to be longer off the driver.

I liked the way the Burner stopped on approach shots and chips. The e6+ has a tendency to run out with me

on chip shots and approach shots.

As far as feel, the burner felt fine on the putter and irons.

I usually play a ProV1X, but have been experimenting as of late. I plan to give the Burner another try

this week.
