Tour player that benefits most from the mid season off season?

Assuming we eventually get through this and back to normal. Which player will benefit the most?

I say Brooks Koepka. He came back not really that healthy. His game has been struggling this year so far. He was still fighting a bum knee. This will give him time to rest, reset, get healthy and in shape. I bet is is incredibly happy.

Now he does not have to grind, fight through pain, make swing compensations that could damage his future. I have been predicting a major down turn for him but now I am not sure.

Tiger is the next on the list.

Gotta go with Koepka or Spieth, both are working through some pretty significant issues. Spieth says he's undoing 1000's of bad swings and really working things out. And Koepka now has a few months to see if he can make time between fashion shows to visit the dreaded country clubs and hit a small bucket or two.

I think Tiger was going to be ready for the Master's and was in decent form prior, hopefully this will give him a chance to come back rejuvenated and he won't pack his schedule too tight ever again.

I'll go with Koepka as well. This will give him time to fully recuperate and get himself back in shape so he can ditch the "Brooks Belly" moniker. Although, it could backfire spectacularly if he simply goes on living his life away from golf and doesn't actually practice or do anything during the time off. I guess we'll see which course he chooses when the Tour starts back up. I'm 50/50 on whether he comes back better or worse.

Disagree. He had a hot run where he played well above his talent and is now playing his normal game. Rory maybe, but not speith.

Definitely TW. This gives him months to chill and get the back in gear.

Yea. Nearly 4 majors in a row. Now his true normal is missed cuts. Yea. That’s possible.

I’m not saying 2015 is probable again. But to say now is normal is just as nuts as saying that.

Its a good story. Tiger as been back more than any pro golfer should have been.

Assuming that Jordan really is working on things and undoing some of the weird stuff that he has been doing over the past 2ish years, him. This will be an amazing time to work through things and get it back on track. Will he be back to where 2015 YJS was? No, probably not, but he won't be way down the leaderboard and trying to find a way out of some weird spot on the course, either.

Brooks may be able to get his knee worked on and fixed up properly, so he can play without the pain that he has been talking about. If he can do that, he may come out better than he was.

Tiger will likely know how to work through all of this as he has done it so many times before, while giving the back more time to rest before really getting into the heart of the season aka the majors.

Rory and Im probably going to be hurt the most from all of this, as they both seem to kind of roll with the momentum from weeks prior to keep them going.

I wonder if Jason Day can figure out his back.

My vote is also Tiger. He needed a break and gets one now. I can see he'll contend in majors and a few tournaments this year. He clearly has the game to win majors.

I like Spieth, but I don't think the next several weeks will do much to him. He has been searching for any form for more than one year. I just hope he can consistently make top 25s.

Brooks is the defacto obvious answer, especially if they're still going to pack in the majors.

But I think the one that needs it the most is DJ. He must even think he sucks currently to pull himself out of the Olympics.

Jason Day. He's not missing any time with a cold.

Realistically, Tiger if he's healthy (which is unclear). No one has been able to focus in short stretches or bring it when it mattered most more than him.

Tiger. His back isn't right and taking an additional month off will probably do wonders for him. Back problems don't really get 100% better; they're just managed so you don't get hurt again.

it hurts whoever had a hot putter and it helps whoever couldn't bust a grape....I think the layoff will help anyone who is nursing an injury and of course whoever uses their off time wisely and spends their time off getting their game in order or recharging the batteries...I think the layoff hurts the younger guys who were chomping on the bit to show their stuff. The older guys know how to pace themselves and are better time managers

of course all of this is theory and won't really know until they come out and start the season all over again

I would say tiger, speith and koepka, mostly tiger and speith due to lack of activity and speith for lack of game. Would have liked to see what koepka was going to do at the players!

Frankie Molinari, I think he will come back strong and play with pride for his hard hit country

This isn’t a story, it’s cold hard facts. A healthy Tiger is still the best player in the world. It’s criminal how good he still is when he can move even somewhat normal. He also seems to be incapable of developing tournament rust. He’s the best all-time at just showing up to tournaments and being ready to win, even if it’s been months or he’s had surgery or whatever.

Maybe with a spinal fusion.

His tee to green game is not there and was only really there for 2 years. He's 195th in SG off the tee, and 90th in putting. His putter got hot and now it's back to normal. The rest of his game is painfully average.

Gotta agree. If weekends off for 3 years wasn't enough time for Speith to get his game back, two more months doesn't matter.

Another under the radar may be Rickie Fowler, coming off his swing changes.

Well. There was the open championship that Zach Johnson won. Jordan misses 2 3 footers on the back and a long putt on 18 grazes the hole to tie. He absolutely had that one in his hand.

And he’s in the last group and neck and neck with Jday at the pga that year until hole 15 or so. I said almost. Which I know isn’t worth a damn really. But in the abstract he’s 4 shots from the single season career grand slam. Nobody else can say that except tiger. Ever.

It could at some point be called normal after a failed swing change but that’s not what you said or insinuated . The quote was ( paraphrasing ) “ that he got hot and now has regressed back to his normal play “. This has never been his normal. His am record is greater than most. His college record the same. And his pro record was on the same trajectory until he decided to chase a swing change. Rory could change his swing and do the same thing. Would that be his normal ? Nope.

Extra time helps Tiger in some ways but time is also his enemy as another year goes by and he is another year further into the back nine of his career ...

I would think that most of the 2020 season is over, and all including Tiger

will be another year older before playing into a major, Beginning to think

the average public courses will be closed for all of 2020
