2020 Ryder Cup Canceled

Just heard on the local radio (Milwaukee) that the Ryder cup is going to be canceled until next year. Anybody else hear this?

Reading the statement that the report is inaccurate makes me feel a bit better. It does seem kind of early to make that call. I'm sure it will be canceled by the end of the week if there are leaks coming out about it now. Hope it doesn't happen because I planned on being there Friday.

The PGA would use that week for the PGA Championship. Makes sense.

Maybe I live in la la land, but I don't find the illness "terrifying". I have had pneumonia three times and got through it okay. That isn't to say I want to get this illness, just...for me anyway...putting it into some kind of perspective.

The economic impact with businesses and everything else shutting down is far, far scarier. We went from booming to disaster within 2 weeks. It doesn't seem real.

I agree. The impact on the economy and people's psyche's are much more worrisome.

I am in Italy right now and US (like Germany, France or UK) has no idea what is coming... stay at home and wash your hands often.

It is a little easier to socially distance ourselves here. You have 60 million people in a area 32 times smaller than the U.S. And that's not counting all the mountainous area you folks have. I do hope the people in your country start to recover soon

That’s the thing that nobody seems to understand here. In our whole state you have basically 4 areas of concentrated living. Greenville-spartanburg , Columbia , myrtle beach and down the coast tp Charleston. And I bet the coast is a ghost town now from no tourists. In between are miles and miles of rural properties. You can literally only see a person when you go to the grocery store. Add that to the Fact that we have nearly 3 times the icu beds and vents as Italy ( per The Who’s stats ) and I don’t see how the math supports it being worse here. Maybe in San Francisco and NY .... but not all over.

Nail on the head. If they aren’t very careful they are going to throw the baby out with the bath water. More elderly will die due to neglect , than the virus if we see a economic meltdown.

my family is doing everything that is asked. I’ve been out twice in 7 days for supplies. My wife works in a medical office ( accountant ) and has worked everyday.

she and I have had the conversation and wonder if we haven’t already had this ? Anyone wonder that too ? Sometime in late January we both had a very mild But aggravating cold with the correct symptoms. Neither of us lost a days work.

Oh no Sean! Please listen to your healthcare providers and the CDC, Dr. Fauci etc.

This is different and I'm guessing based on your age and the fact that you've had pneumonia 3 times you could be at additional risk? If the medical system gets overwhelmed, and that's a major concern from the people I know in the field, that even "routine illness" such as pneumonia etc could leave you without the care you need.

I know this post is off topic but we'd like you to be around for a while.
