Ping G410 Max?

I know Ping normally introduce new product the week before the Open. Has anyone seen or heard if a G410 Max will be made?

There are probably closer followers of PING that will know better, but i'm pretty sure the G410 MAX was never planned. The G400 MAX was already starting to come dangerously close to the legal MOI limit and I suspect that they needed an additional product cycle to figure out how to improve upon the original. They can't go lower in MOI because it simply wouldn't be as forgiving as the original, and they can't go higher CG because it would be higher spinning. If they kept with the G410 formula with a "MAX" version then they likely just would have been adjustable and spun more, which most people would see as an underwhelming "upgrade". My guess is they are cooking up something the brings adjustability and the same CG or lower than the original 400 MAX so it can truly be a performance upgrade.

Since most OEMs plan their product lines ahead at LEAST a few years, i'd imagine that the huge success of the MAX was maybe a bit unexpected and an upgrade to it was not allowed for in the 410 line due to its design. That is just speculation though, and i'm definitely excited to see what they come up with next.

I thought the G410 Plus was basically the Max replacement? Same super high MOI but now with more adjustability.

410 PLus was the merging of the Max and Standard G400. There will be no G410 Max.

Last I read was that when the G410 was released there were no plans for a Max replacement as Ping couldn't improve upon its forgiveness, etc. That's why it's still on the shelves and there wasn't any discount like there were for other G400 models. Haven't seen anything changing that stance.

Max stayed in the "current" line of drivers with the G410. We will see a new line most likely in late summer or fall.

I’d have been happy with the same max but a 12* or 13.5* option. I’m a low ball hitter and tried lofting up the 10.5 Max but then it hooked to much. I dig loft with a neutral to open face. Those are hard to find.

been playing a 12* Flash lofted to 14* as a good compromise.

My local Pro shop just got in his new 2020 stock of Ping's. He had the G400 MAX drivers for $299, and the G410's for $399. He said many of his customers went back to the G400 MAX, and sold their G410's. I hit my 400 well, and was looking at the 410's, but didn't realize the 400 MAX was still a current product from Ping.

If you wanted to “make” a 410 Plus a 410 “Max,” get another weight & put one in the Draw setting & one in the Fade setting & that’ll max out the MOI & forgiveness in the Driver.

Did Exactly this with the 410 LST. Took me a little bit to get the correct weighting down (playing at 44.25”) but it’s definitely improved.

We're not seeing that at all. We had a steady flow of 410s leaving. However, we're not seeing and 400 Max's coming back either.

Not exactly. Putting weight in the Draw position on the G410's actually decreases MOI because it moves weight closer to the face. The maximum forgiveness setting with two weights would be one in the toe and one neutral. Or two weights stacked on top of each other in the neutral position if such a thing were possible.

Curious. Would you still put the heavier weight in the weak area of your swing, or put two of the same weight in?

the couple people saying MOI drops by adding a second weight to the draw position, in addition to the central, are incorrect, Yes toe and central would be higher MOI than center and draw...but draw and center are higher than just center (that is if you only have the one back center weight...lets say 14g, versus center(14g) and draw(14g) for a total of 28g...by adding additional weight away from the axis point (draw) would still increase MOI...however, this will not be like a G400max because that much weight added in a deeper cg-Z axis, would make this clubhead much spinnier.

G410 Plus is not designed to have 2 weights, Jertson said it himself so that settles it.

It's the most forgiving with 1 weight in the neutral position, and it's not going to get any better with any additional weights.

Have some respect for the engineers that designed the club.

I’m certainly no engineer, but the fade and draw positions on the g410 head are farther forward than the central position. So yes you would be splitting the weight to the heel and toe, but the mass would be closer to the face so it’s moi would be lower. Makes sense to me.

I have multiple weights for my G410 Plus and I tested this, weights forward = less forgiving, lower spin & launch, "deader" feel and somewhat random behavior on off-center hits.

I have a head/shaft combo that needs a 14gr weight the archive normal D3 SW and I tried putting 2 x 7gr weights in draw and fade positions and the head basically acted like the G410 LST but had less feel of contact.

Highest MOIs ever achieved by Ping came from G400 MAX

IMO Ping doesn’t make drivers with a lower MOI year over year so G410 MAX is coming

The difference in MOI between fade and neutral are negligible obviously

I personally hit the G410 Plus straighter vs Max due to ability to set weight on fade position.

Don’t think he sells on line. It’s a large pro shop with a driving range, putt putt course, 3 new indoor simulators, a bar and a Giant bicycle dealership. All under 1 roof. They do have a website listed as Precision Valley Golf Center, in Hays Kansas.

Ping had "trademarked" the 410 Max name and has since removed it. So, sadly it doesn't seem like its gonna happen, at least not under the 410 max name.. But, luckily the 400 Max is that good and can be had for a deal!

A trademark costs like $400 to register. I used to be a trademark troll before I, funny enough, became an attorney. Don’t put much stock into trademarks. More specifically, don’t assume because Company A filed for the mark “Product A”, they have specific plans to make said product.

What I am saying is that Ping trademarked the g410 max name, as they do for many clubs/ideas that ultimately never come to fruition as a purchasable product. After trademarking the 410 Max name, Ping later abandoned the trademark. Agree it's not 100% proof, but it points to the 410 Max not happening.

Whenever they do make a higher moi version of the G400 max, I am a buyer; just doesn't seem like it will be part of the current product line.

I don't know that they really CAN make a higher MOI version, they are already so close to the USGA limit and they need to allow for room in fitting adjustments. The only real place to go is lower in CG and/or as adjustable as the 410 is with the moveable weight. It will be interesting to see what they do for sure.

I can't imagine a more forgiving and playable driver than the 410 plus. Really nice to hit. I've popped a few up that still carry nicely lol

I like my g400 max, but I would like the option to adjust it flatter like the g410 line. Moveable weights would be nice but that would prob lower moi.

No more movable weights in my opinion. If only they had an upright tip that took off loft like other companies
