Bringing back former member of the site?

Hello mods,

What kind of outreach are you guys doing to bring back former members of the site who left for a bit after the "Great and Disastrous Format Change of 2019"?

Love this place. Miss some of the guys who left.

I think you have to wait for those who left to come back. Although an email couldn't hurt.

If the paid employees or the site owners want to do something - thats up to them.

I post occasionally but it’s brutal to navigate now. Gets so frustrating I often just shut it off.

May I ask what's so difficult to navigate ?

Most everything from the old board are around, just in different places. But once learned it doesn't seem any more difficult to find one's way around than before.

I think there are a countless number of things still wrong with this upgrade.

But I just cannot see navigation being one of them. Certainly not to the point of it being so difficult you shut it off. I actually find myself using the Recent and Participated links every day now - and I never once used them in the other 15 years I was on here.

To each his own - I just dont see it.

Unless I’m starting a thread, I also never use anything other than Recent and Participated. Or the Advanced Search. Not on BST, so that’s all I need.

That's exactly how i use the site 95% of the time. I even started a poll about how one uses the site. How do YOU read GOLFWRX ?

For me, i used to go to the recent discussions and then when I find something that I thought was interesting I would click on the person’s name and find some of the other posts to see if I thought that was interesting.

Also, it was easier to edit. Also you could delete a post if you didn’t want it up there or you made it accidentally in the wrong spot. Also I liked clicking on the like and seeing who else liked it.

When I say navigate I guess what I meant was it was much easier for me to find the people I wanted to follow and the search function made a little more sense to me before.

You have to understand I’m getting old and I’m not super computer savvy and once I am able to do something I don’t like to change it! lol

We're ALL getting older my brother - I'm guessing it's better than the alternative. LOL
Recent discussion has a link at the top which I'm sure you've seen. As for posts by someone, click on their avatar and you'll get to their profile. On the right, directly below the avatar is "Discussions", thread that person STARTED, and "Comments", his/her posts. Voila'
Editing a quoted post has been a problem and been complained about for a loooooong time. Status ? Not sure. But they are certainly aware of it. What people generally do, assuming they're only referring to a part of the quoted post, is copy it from the original post and then paste it UNDER the quoted post, then either bold it, italicize it, or both.
Finding people ? That's a problem. But if you know their name, or are pretty close, you can start typing (in a text/reply box of course) AFTER an "@" sign, the beginning of the person's name and the board will show you suggestions.
Here's what it looks like @isaacbm - I typed the @ and hen followed with isaac and the board "found" all members starting with that and there you were. Or you could go to "Advanced Search" and in the author field do the same thing without the @ sign and the board will list names.
And remember, on most sites, if you poke around on various links you can't hurt anything,,,,,,,,,,,

Thanks guys. Basically I just like the old one because I was used to it. I’m slow to change at times...
