Hole-in-one Today (glad club is still open)

Had a hole-in-one today and first at my new club since moving to FL last year from NJ. 13th hole, 184 yards into the wind. It's my 5th all together. I gripped down on a 5 iron and one-hop jarred it. Shot 72 with a few sloppy bogeys, but otherwise struck it well. I've been playing poorly lately with some right hand & wrist/elbow arthritis/tendinitis issues, so very happy to turn it around. Switched to Iomic Midsize last week to help...

Very sad that this pandemic is harming people's health but also killing the economy. It's especially noticeable here in Palm Beach Co, FL where the last few weeks of the season are like a Black Friday for local businesses... especially restaurants and golf clubs. I'm glad & thankful my place is at least still open (for golf only) under protective physical distancing measures which are really just decent common sense. Golf is a nice respit for us under these circumstances and also a healthy outdoor activity that's good for the immune system. Ridiculous IMHO that courses are closed in many places around the country when it's not hard to enact safety precautions. It's going to decimate the industry if prolonged...

congrats on number 5! how is the elbow feeling after going midsize? haven’t heard of that before, pretty interesting. i fight some elbow pain the day after golf.

Our courses are closing in Massachusetts starting at noon tomorrow. It's snowing right now, lol.

PS Iomic are the best .. camp 2.3 sticky guy but may be going mid size soon

Iomic midsize are plus 1/32. Basically same as Ping Gold color code grip. I built up the right hand with an extra wrap.

My arthritis is post-traumatic osteoarthritis in right hand 3rd and 4th knuckles and metacarpals. I was flinching at it and letting go of the handle which aggravated forearm/elbow tendinitis. Seems I'm prone to "itisis!"

So far grips feel weird, but pain is subsiding. I drove it really well today but still flinched at hitting the ground on a few wedges. They definitely absorb some shock though, and they're low torque, unlike mushy type grips. I got the recommendation on the Iomics from a pro who who knows Allenby, who had been dealing with the same issue. Claims he can practice for nearly 1 hour longer with these

Lol...I suppose indirectly, but he's made over $27m playing golf which is about $26.999m more than me! ?

I'll rip 'em right off of there if they dont work though. So far, so good...

Interesting that the Sticky midsize are lower torque (per Iomic website) than the standard and 2.3 Sticky. They're firm, but nice and tacky. I warmed up today without a glove with no issues

Just don't use them in Hawaii!

And despite the "incident" and his somewhat surly rep, I always thought he was pretty decent from a fan point of view.

Sure as heck was/is one helluva ball striker. He plays/practices at Admiral's Cove down here which is about 5 min from me

Abacoa. I live in the community about .9 miles from the club.

It's semi-private...something I never thought would appeal to me after belonging to a full private for 25 years in NJ, but I love it.

We've got a great group/regular game of over 30 guys, same (preferred) tee times each day, and the greens rival anything around. Its practically a no-brainer

My intention was to join here as a temporary measure then join a full private once we figured where we wanted to buy (renting at the moment). My wife loves the community though, and the convenience is hard to beat. Most full privates down here require big upfront money, but I'm guessing that's gonna change with the fallout from this pandemic.

Thanks! Sadly, starting today officials closed all courses, public & private, in Palm Beach County.

Going to be very tough times for golf courses, restaurants and other small businesses who count on the "in season" crowds.

Lucky that you had an official one before courses close or raise their cups! Still not sure how I’d react if my “hole-in-one” was on my club’s raised cups..

I did however record my 7th career eagle a couple weeks ago. Par 5 at my home course. On my third shot from about 65 yards out, 60* wedge to an elevated green. I saw it land and bounce, and knew it was close, but didn't actually see it go in. Another guy in my group also stuck his close, but when he hit I wasn't watching him.

We walked up to the green, and I saw a shot about 5 feet from the hole, and assumed that was mine. I start walking towards it, and the other guy says "where'd you end up?". I say "I think that's me sitting close to the hole". He says "I'm pretty sure that's me".

Slightly confused now because I knew I hit a good one, I walk towards the cup and there it is inside.

Not a HiO, but still pretty stoked. I've been playing golf for 25 years, and since this is only my 7th eagle it's not like they happen for me often.

Congrats on your hole in one. The iomics are fine grips. Now lets open all the courses back up and use common sense.
