I think I would pare my bag down to my Titleist U510 1 utility iron (16 degrees), my Titleist T100 8 iron (38 degrees), and my Callaway 58 degree PM grind wedge. Maybe I'd take my T100 3 iron (21 degrees) instead, though it would be easier to putt with the U510. I can putt with the wedge just fine, too.
4H, 7 iron, 56*(which I can putt with NP).
JPX Fli-Hi 5 22° Hybrid. As much as I play my 19° 4 Hybrid from the tee, I'm opting to loft up for better versatility from the fairway, rough and fairway bunkers. From 150-200 yd no worries, but below that it's going to get tricky.
53° PM Grind. 100 yd and in, I'm good.
Putter. Was going to get fancy with this slot, but why.
Basically the same as CK above.
With only 3 clubs I probably wouldn’t use a putter. Either a 4/wood or 3hy plus a 7i and a wedge of some kind (56-ish) and I’d putt with the wedge
Hmm never thought of putting with a wedge - but suppose should work... Will give it a try (at home unfortunately😞)
Well with only three clubs I would want to save strokes around the greens. If this was a course without much sand GW instead of SW.
Having witnessed 100 yard putter shots on windy days by a particularly quirky playing partner, and done a few 50 yarders myself, a putter is a given.
That would be my choice too.
what the he.ll's point of this non-sense?
you can't even play 3 clubs nor you will have any chance of doing it.
Hybrid, wedge, putter? It's all I use to shoot well on the sim... :(
3W, 9i, putter.
I can carry the 3w around 250-265 and then 9i anywhere from 100-160 with confidence. Would be able to use it around the greens and from the bunkers if necessary also.
Driver, pw, putter.
4i, 8i (putter), 55*
3W, 7i, 56*
Like others, just putt with the 3W or wedge. Figure I would be missing a bunch of greens with this setup so a 56* is a must for me.
I played in a 3 club charity event last year.
3 Drivers and I will win.
No but seriously.
5 Wood (F7 baffler with Evenflow White TX anyone? no?)
50º Tour Rusty Cobra Wedge
Not sure if the last would be a putter or a 7 iron
Sometimes putt better with my wedge/iron!
7 & 9 iron
! Iron 7 iron 52* wedge---- Like Dan I can belly putt with a wedge and the 7 iron is very versatile for me. I can also long putt or bump and run the 1 iron. Back in my gambling days I have played a lot of 1 club and 3 club matches. For the 1 club matches I have an old Sears and Roebuck Calamity Jane style putter with a steel shaft--- Still have it has an old GP Crown Cord on it.
Driver--- Honma G1-X Stock R shaft
FW Adams Tight Lies 16* Mitsu Diamana R
Hybrid Adams Boxer 19* Matrix Ozik R
Hybrid Adams A-10 OS 22* Pro Launch red R
Irons 4 thru PW 1980 Macgregor VIP Hogan Apex 2 shafts
SW Macgregor LRA 56* S-400 DJ Special
LW Wilson Harmonized 60 Stock TT shaft
Putter Macgregor Bobby Grace MK5 Tour Issue
Bag(s) Old School Burton plain mini staff or Jones Classic
My league does 3 clubs and a putter twice each season, once from intermediate and once from long tees. So we get to do it at least twice a year and get to vary it a bit.
10 Club Modern Minimalist Set-Up (trackman gap fitting, 15 yard gaps up top, 25 yard gaps down low)

Evens (even day): Titleist 915 F 15*- Titleist 818 H2 19*- Srixon u65 4-23*- Srixon 565 6-31*- Srixon 765 8-38*- Srixon 965 PW-46*
Cleveland RTX-3 Tour Raw 52, 60, Cleveland TA Milled 2
Odds (odd day): Titleist 915 F 13.5*- Titleist 818 H2 17*- Srixon u65 3-20*- Srixon 565 5-27*- Srixon 765 7-34*- Srixon 965 9-42*
Cleveland RTX-3 Tour Raw 50, 60, Cleveland TA Milled 2
Glove/ Ball: Srixon Red Z/ Srixon Z-Star Tour Yellow
Doesn't seem popular but I would probably take a driver. I have more confidence with that and I can hit it over 300 so I could still get on Par 5s in two with like driver 7 iron. 3rd club would be a 52 o 54
