Kiawah Island Advice

Heading to Kiawah from Florida for my bachelor party this June. Will be about 6 serious golfers for a Wednesday and Thursday rounds, and then planning on either staying in Charleston/Isle of Palms for friday sat and sunday. No golf for the weekend. Is it worth getting an AirBNB/Hotel in charleston for the relaxing and activites, and driving down for the Ocean course rounds? or staying at the resort for 2 days and then heading up to Charleston.

Also, What is the best way to book? directly thru the resort or any other travel companies? resort is causing a little issue with wanting to say you need to stay "Saturday thru Saturday"

I would stay at the resort when you play. They have shuttles and rounds are cheaper when staying with the resort. The packages are also reasonably priced. I’d stay in Charleston for the weekend if you don’t plan on playing because its 45 minutes to an hour to drive each way. The activities in Charleston are much better and walking or an Uber is easy The island gets pretty slow at night even on weekends and I don’t believe Uber or Lyft go on the island. They didn’t last time I was down there.

I would stay at resort for sure. I went 2 years ago and stayed there, did drive into Charleston for one night, and wouldn't do it again. Next time I would stay in Charleston at beginning of trip or end for a couple of days. As Kevlar mentioned island pretty slow is understatement. All families, and after dinner my buddies and myself would be only people at the bar besides a stray couple or two. I would also play 36 next time as well. Maybe it was the group of guys I was with 2 of the 3 are a 1 or 2 drinks at most and didn't like hanging at pool. I personally like to indulge and people watch as opposed to napping in room. Incredible place, very nice people and hospitality. I live in northern CA and have been trying to talk wife into moving there since I got back.

I Second the other two- don’t try to commmute. Resort has a few good options for hanging out , but don’t expect world class nightlife of that so your thing. What you would expect at a high end resort and should be enough going on in June to have a good crowd. For me there is no better spot to have some drinks than the Ocean Course clubhouse bar at sundown. Overlooking the groups coming off 18, the ocean, side bets on the practice green, the breeze in early summer is usually perfect. Especially if your group loves golf.

awesome thanks fellas..... think the plan will be to stay there for the first two nights and play 2/3 rounds, before meeting the rest of the degenerates up in Charleston at a new spot for the weekend...

any recommendations on how to book at the resort? directly.....or thru a golf travel company?

the quotes ive gotten are like $1200 a person for 2 nights and 2 rounds... seems steep.

Book through resort and get discounts for golf on it. Replay rates are solid, play 36 one day.

June's gonna be peak pricing anyway, I'd book early through resort and get them to book tee times.

AirBnB will be much cheaper. However you need to message the owner prior to booking to ensure that you get resort privileges. There are a few out there that do. An alternative is to stay on Seabrook for much cheaper and play one of the Seabrook courses.

Consider playing two rounds at the resort, and you'll be able to play ocean at the replay rate which is about $100-150 if i recall correctly. That way you can play two courses for less than the cost of ocean if you were to play in the morning. Things are starting to open up around here, so you should still be able to have a pretty good time in June. The bars and restaurants are at about half capacity, and you must be sitting down, but my wife and I went out last weekend and had plenty of fun.
