Best Shoe For Golf 2020?

Recommended Posts

Going to be personal choice, and what other people feel are "best" may not be applicable to you.

I like the current True Linkswear stuff.

It appears you may have an ulterior motive for asking, however.

In my opinion you can't go wrong with FJ Pro SL's or the D.N.A.'s Ive also owned Nike's and Jordans. Nikes aren't bad but if you have wider feet, Nike's may not be the best choice and they usually run a tad bit small. Jordans are also pretty solid but depending on the model it usually sells out and you can only get em on the secondary market where reseller mark up the price. I've never owned a pair but I've heard good things about Eccos.

The thing I don't like about FJ shoes is that they don't taper at the mid foot sole at all. They look like two pontoons on your feet.

All depends where you play, how much you play, conditions you play, do you walk or cart more, what you want to spend.

It's all subjective.

My favorite is still footjoy dry joy tour. Footjoy pro SL is too wide in the heel.

The tour is stable, lightweight, and looks classic. Hard to beat, imo.

As others have said, it all comes down to how the shoe fits you. That said, if you want a more traditional, leather/cleated shoe I absolutely LOVE my Puma Ignite PROADAPT shoes. They come in several different colorways, just picked up a second pair in navy blue on closeout. If you haven't tried on a pair of Pumas before, you should.

If you're going after some on-course heat, I'd say the following:

Air Jordan 3 white cement

Nike Air Max 97 Golf (silver bullet for style, all-whites if you trying to look hype but golf still)

Palace X Adidas Ultra Boost

Air Jordan XI (Concord, Cool Grey)

Less hype-y but super comfy choices:

Adidas Ultra Boost Tour 360 or whatever it's called

Footjoy DNA/SL Pro

Ecco Biom (kinda weird looking, but oh-so-comfy)

Of course, all-whites are always my go to. Real sticks know the deal.... all-whites are where it's at. They pretty much go with everything. When I see someone walking up to the tee wearing a fresh pair of all-white kicks, I always assume that person subscribes to the "look good, play good" adage.

^^ Best I've ever worn. Just stocked up on last year's model on blow-out pricing in case they cut this model. I have a few pairs of the regular Tour 360 from the last few years, and they're all very comfortable, but the spikeless XT-SLs beat them all.

My top shoes of all time in terms of comfort is definitely the Footjoy Freestyles which of course, they dont make anymore. I have bought a new pair or 2 every single year for the last 5 years. I love them.

Nike Air Zoom Infinity Tour are supposed to release today, I am willing to bet they will super comfortable and stable.

I like golf. A lot.

i didn't buy them, but loved them when i tried them on. they fit better for me, than last years model. a customer bought me a pair of last years and they ran big. i wear a 13 in all adidas shoes and last years fit large. these new ones, fit great and the light gray ones look awesome. i really want to buy another pair of shoes for walking and im not sure yet if those are the ONES to walk 18 in, but i loved them for sure.

Second this. the PUMA Ignite series are the best golf shoes i've ever had. I got two versions: NXT (spike-less) and PWRADAPT (spikes). Always get the laces. No discs.

On hot days with dried out courses i use the spikeless NXT. Light, comfy, and low cut. PWRADPT when spikes are needed. They're a little heavier and bulkier than NXT but much lighter than other brands. (FYI: i found puma is a little long. I had to go down 1/2 size) Both are waterproof which i value a lot.

I use to go with the Adidas 360, but have found the new PUMAs much better. The 360s were a little heavier and bulky

I really wanted these to work. Liked the look, loved the feel of the inner sleeve around my foot. I like shoes with a wider toebox, and these surprisingly checked off that box once I put them on.

HOWEVER, the lack of heel support was a deal breaker. Most shoes have extra padding at the top of the heel to keep it in place. The back of PROADAPT seems like a house slipper, and the heel of my right foot kept raising up during the downswing. It crushed me to return these.

I'm still wearing my 6+ year old Footjoy Contours b/c I can't find anything that meets all my needs. Its become a running joke with family and friends at this point. I've lost track of how often I've seen a shoe online that might work, only to realize its 4+ years old and they dont make it any more. I should write a book...
