Longest drive you have ever hit?

Well I’ll probably be the only one under 300. It was in the 260ish range. 310 par 4 left with about 35: to the hole if I remember. I did hit one 320 on 18 at Kapalua on a simulator. That was fun to watch.

350yd par 4. Fairway goes uphill, then back downhill towards the green. I'm sure I caught a favorable bounce (lost sight of it once it cleared the top of the hill), but we found my ball on the green. Assuming the yardage was to the center of the green, we figured the tee shot was good for 330 or so.

I've hit 320 a few times on flat(ish) fairways that I consider more legitimate distances. For all I know I hit a tree root and bounced forward on the 330yd shot...

I'll join you in the sub 300 club.

My longest on course drive was probably around 250 with a heavy tailwind.

I was shopping for a club for the top end of the bag and hit my driver for shiggles. Had a couple that rolled to 254 on the simulator, but pushed right.

20 years ago, playing with my then 15 yr old ish son. He didn't really enjoy golf, just went to humor me. I have never been a long hitter. 250 was big for me. This one par 4, I just kept walking and walking until I finally reached the ball. With the distance left to the green, my math said 300 yards. No downhill, no cart path, no big wind. It didn't feel crushed or different from a normal drive, but there is was. I was thinking 'this will impress my son.' Nah... He had no idea how rare that is. Except for here, where there really are a lot of guys who hit it a long way.

Tee shot on a 520 yard par 5. Elevated tee, down wind, rock hard fairways, and pretty sure it landed on the back side of a small mound. I remember watching it kick forward and roll, and roll, and roll. When I shot the pin for my approach shot I had 118 left. Pin wasn't quite middle, but wasn't forward either so based on my math it would have been in the 390-405 range.

I also remember lipping the eagle putt too.....

I've had several over 300 with "modern" equipment and helping conditions but the one that I consider my longest, or best, was right at 300 with a Tommy Armour 986 Tour persimmon. Hit it so pure I never felt it. Balata ball. Looked in my usual landing spot, nothing. Took a ride up the fairway and over the hill and there it was. Most memorable drive to date.

Gorham Country Club, in southern Maine, so I was playing at sea level. There is a fair amount of clay on the course, so in the spring balls would plug and in the summer some fairways would turn into runways. #3 is a par 4, slight dogleg left. The fairway ends about 100 yards from the center of the green. Just past that point there is a 20 or so foot downslope that leads to a large stream. The green is on the other side of the stream. I was playing in August, I think, so the fairway was hard. I hit a low draw down the middle with a tail wind. No sign of the ball in the fairway. I found it in the flat area short of the stream. I was marking all of my tee shots with my GPS back then and it read 302 yards. The longest drive of my life and will probably never happen again. I was averaging closer to 225 yards for a good drive. My previous long was about 275 on the same course, similar conditions on #7 when I drove over the ridge in the middle of the fairway and caught the backside downslope.

Actually, I have hit a couple 275 yard drives with a bit of a tail wind in the summer, but this last week, while working on my swing and trying to hit the ball just solidly and straight, I hit a 255 yard drive on a hole that landed into an upslope so it got no roll. There was a bit of a cross wind from right to left, and it pushed my ball just out of the fairway by a yard or two. That swing and drive were probably the purest drive I have had in over 20 years without some sort of help. Let’s hope I can do it again because if I can, the swing changes I am now making in my late 40’s are working and working well.

354 yards, SkyCaddie-verified.

It was a downhill par 4. I connected with it well, and it was hugging the right side rough. The cart path also runs along the right side, and juts in at a couple spots. Of course I hit both juts, and bounced back perfectly into the fairway, leaving myself about 20 yards short of the green.

And of course my chip-on was less than stellar, which left me a 2-putt for a disappointing par.

Many years ago about 400 yds. Par 5 about 500 yds that crested about 250 from the tee and then went downhill. Ranger was parked at the crest in middle of the fairway. He waved us up to hit and we waved him back. He was easily in our range. He got really mad and yelled at to us to hit for get off the course. So, I hit. I airmailed him way over his head. Guess that is what happens when you're just trying to make contact and not look like an idiot after waving off the ranger. Thought I was down the middle but found my ball under a pine tree 100 yds from the green in the right rough. Since it was down hill after the crest, I never saw the ball land. Group ahead could have have whacked my ball under the tree as I'm sure it came close to them. One of life's mysteries.

Long time ago, drove it over the green and into the woods on a 330-ish yard par 4. Summer brown-out conditions on a course that didn't have irrigated fairways to begin with, slightly downhill, worm-burner type ball flight, "Killer Bee" Driver (!!!) that I hardly ever seemed to connect with, Top Flite XL ball. Made bogey, lol.

My usual driving distance rarely exceeds 240-250 yards now and was probably averaging 200-210 back then.

I've driven a 350-yard par 4 a couple of times on the fly. It's, err, slightly* downhill...

There was a 300-yard par 4 on the course I played a lot growing up which played downwind and was very drivable in summer, even with persimmon and wound balls. About 200 yards from the back tee, the fairway sloped down into the green, and when the fairways were baked, it was possible to get home with a 5-wood. In fact, I hit into the front bunkers with a 3i a couple of times from the regular tees. With the wind behind and the fairways hard, as long as the tee shot made it to the downslope into the green, there was always a chance of getting on the green or in the front bunkers. Problem was, the green was very well guarded by three front bunkers, and to actually get on required threading the needle. Plus, it sloped down from the front to the back, so after chipping/pitching on, most balls ended up on the back of the green.

*and by "slightly" I mean it's almost like hitting off a cliff.
