Mansion Ridge in Monroe, NY

Hi everyone,

Did a search and didnt see anything recent so I figured I would start a new thread. I snagged a tee time for this coming Monday 4/6. What is everyone's opinion on the course? Always heard that it was nice and with NJ closed to golf and work being slow I figured I would give it a shot. Things are greening up fast here in north(ish) NJ so hopefully NY isnt too far behind. Just glad to find a course open within a reasonable distance.

Im liking their extra precautions during this time (minus the raised cups but it is what it is). Single riders only in carts and extra time between tee times should make for a nicely paced round.

It’s a fun layout, conditions from what I hear conditions have been kind of spotty the last few years, particularly on the greens and tee boxes.

A friend of mine played Mansion earlier this week, he said its not in great shape right now but all things considered that's kind of to be expected. It's a pretty fun track when its in good shape which it always used to be, but similar to what @th6252 said above the last few years have seen the condition go somewhat downhill.

As long its playable and hopefully still better than some run of mill county courses which are my standard.

I play there occasionally, it’s usually in good shape and a fun place to play. They struggled with the greens two seasons ago but last year they were in better shape. Expect spring conditions but it’s a good track. Downside to the place is price, I only play there during the week, and pace of play which has always been a problem there. With the spaced out tee times and a weekday, you’ll enjoy it.

Me and my 3 other played the worse ever round but we had lots of fun.

Really nice course but it wasn't just our day.

Played there yesterday and really enjoyed the course. The tee boxes were pretty flat and the greens rolled good, almost no ball marks. Fairways were in good shape for this time of the year as well. The course has some great views and really nice holes. I played the front 9 pretty well, except for a blow up on #8, which was shame because that was a very nice par 4 with a huge elevation drop. The back 9 and I didnt get along so well. I will definitely be back to take it on again!

Played there a number of times but not within the last 5 years or so therefore no idea of condition.

As others have mentioned, this time of year in the northeast conditions can be very iffy (read WET)

My #1 "wanna have" is excellent green conditions. Of course at this time I have no idea.

#2 is, is it an interesting course - and Mansion Ridge definitely fills that requirement. No 2 holes the same, a variety of OB and penalty areas, a few forced carries (nothing too drastic) and a few rather large elevation changes.

Definitely recommended.

Good to hear the conditions have bounced back.

Had a chance to get out on NY Country Club today and other than the fact they just aerated, the rest of the course was in pretty solid shape.

Was in between groups and the starter let me go out as a single so that was a huge relief as far as having to worry about social distancing.

Mansion Ridge is now closed as well.......

Yup, im thankful I got a round in last week.

Tentatively have a tee time for Thursday. Never actually walked the course as I’ve always played with a friend who was a member in the past. Although I’m not looking forward to walking that course, I’ll just be thankful to get out.

Played this weekend there. Greens were in great shape.

Good to hear. I’ve got tee times for Tuesday and Thursday next week, gonna need to bring some extra ammo with the rusty swing and no way to warm up.

I went through more ammo than usual last time I was there as well!

How was pace of play? It’s always been a little slow there but I know they spaced out the tee times a bit more.

We played in 4:30 or 4:45 which most courses I would say is quite slow. But we weren't really waiting. Think with everyone carrying their bags and the distance/hills between holes it was the normal pace

Played Sunday the 3rd at 1pm took about 5 1/2 hrs. to play in foursomes.. There were definitely a few groups out there playing slower than they should have been but for me it was just great to get out and play. If anyone is interested it's a 6.9 mile walk and my phone counted 36 flights of stairs during the round.

I mean it is to be expected as Mansion isn’t an easy walk and there are probably golfers out there walking, that haven’t walked in a decade.

7 miles! I beleive it, there were a few holes that were a decent drive in the cart. I dont mind a little bit of a walk, help me forget about the 3 putt I probably had or time to pound half a brewski.
