New JPX Line?

Should we be expecting a new JPX line this year? or am I a year ahead of schedule?

Late fall I’d expect, technically probably a 2021 release.

Wonder if they delay them until after the current situation, would probably make sense too

Should be around september as always. Hope they bring out the Pro model at the same time as the rest this time around though, that thing has been a killer at our store

I think we will see a six month delay in a lot of new gear coming out. Got to be millions worth of inventory gathering dust on shelves at the moment.

Do the pro's normally release at a different time?

Should throw the copper underlay in these to soften them up. 919T with copper underlay

The Hot Metal Pro was released at the PGA Show, while the rest of the JPX919 product was teased around the British Open and leaked officially in early September for late September sales, IIRC. It's funny though, my rep knew about the HMP at the September release and said we have something even more interesting coming that is going to do very well. Of course his lips were sealed but it just seemed weird why they didn't either release it right away or stall the whole line a couple of months.

I have the 919 forged and they feel nice enough, not super soft. Would love to try them with a copper underlay. I also just think from 7 iron above they are a tad chunky, do hit the clubs well though.

Not likely we will see copper underlay in JPX line but, I have been fooled before. Mizuno continues to surprise me after all of this time.

Yeah I was told about the pro around september when my rep talked about the 919 line. Described it in depth and that it was gonna drop in early feb. From what I've heard now they are looking for a release in sept this year and the pro replacement in feb like last time. He didn't know why but thats what he'd been told from higher ups at Mizuno. From my experience the pro really made bank for them and I see quite a few sets out and about here. A buddy plays them and loves them as well

The 919 Tours were incredible. Still a fan. Can't wait to see what they do next.

Yes!!!!!! Exactly what I'm looking for, and maaaybe a slightly thinner appearing topline. Appearing thin, but not necessarily thin like the T-20 wedges

I guarantee if Mizuno thinned the top line, added the underlay, and reduced the offset, most of you who are saying they'd buy it would find something else to complain about it. You realize you're arguing about noticing less than half a millimeter of offset right?

Yeah, we can be a pretty demanding and fickle at the same time!

This is the major issue I have with my 919 Tour's. I love the club but the offset makes it difficult to align the face correctly at address. I have played blades my entire life and really wanted to continue using the JPX Tour line but I am going to purchase a set of Miura mb 101's for the time being, forgiveness be damned. If the new JPX Tours have less offset I will 100% be back to Mizuno for my gamers and keep the miura's around to use every once in a while for fun.

Any chance we get discounted iron sets once everything is back up and running to start allowing Mizuno to get rid of the massive amount of inventory they probably have on hand??

Hopefully. That was how I was able to get the set of JPX-900 forged I currently have. Although, to be honest I might just keep them, I did not like the look of the 919 forged as well when I looked at them and hit them in the local golf shop. They seemed chunkier to me.

tangent question, if mizuno discounts the current line, do they no longer take custom orders for them?

Would love to see a SGI offering, maybe a tech refresh on the forged MX-900 irons to compete with the likes of the G710....

I think that depends what stock they have available. I've kept an eye on websites that offer custom options on clubs, they have tended to keep custom options for discounted lines for so long before falling back on selling just the standard product as stock runs low.

Chris Voshell did a long interview with the TXG guys the other day on their youtube channels and he talks about current stock levels & when the new kit will be released

Great interview, and good catch. Chris seemed relatively confident that the JPX line will be launching on schedule (as of that interview) in the summer.

He also indirectly alluded to the fact that JPX line will be available in a black finish, when he stated he'd get black shafts (+ BB&F ferrules) to match his upcoming set. Has Mizuno offered a black finish before?

It was a good interview, but he seems to be a glass half full kind of guy. He implied that a decision on the new line is a day to day decision. It will probably take a while to make a decision because you have to see the demand (vs. supply) once the stores open. The bean counters in Japan Corporate will make the decision. Seems to be an easy decision if Ping truly pushes their launch back. We will likely be in a recession during September (their launch timing) so time to blow out the old merchandise. Then wait until next year and the PGA show. That is just my two cents and really does not add up to a hill of beans.

Good article by MGS recently on the various options available to companies. Mizuno was not the focus but seemed to think TM might keep SIM another year and that PING and Titleist launches will get pushed. What I found interesting was that they make almost 50% of revenue during these months leading up to the season. I guess that shouldn’t be shocking as people are getting new gear for the season but I guess how high it was caught me off guard.

I honestly can’t see them moving forward with September. I think people’s spending will be reduced and with all the inventory on hand it makes sense to push it out if even to the PGA show (if an event like that is allowed to happen)

i play the 919 forged and I can’t see myself moving off Mizuno anytime soon. Can’t see myself financially buying the new versions though with everything going on.

MP-18’s were discounted right around this time last year. The price dropped to $125 per iron from $150. You could get them for $109 if you knew where to look. I placed a custom order on 4/17/19. If I remember correctly, they went on back-order and more were made after the price drop. Obviously, it might not work like that this year.
