That’s a good looking set. Updated irons to a hollow body high COR face. Those fairways and hybrids will really perform. Looks like Tom has up graded the 929HS fairways and 775 hybrids and those are great performers as is.

Tom has been an invaluable resource over the years, but man, I have to agree... his products look terrible. I mean no disrespect at all, Tom.

But hire someone to make your clubs look like they didn't come from Monark Golf.

Interesting the comments .... I think they look clean, good. Not great, but good. I'm talking about the irons. The fwy. and hybrids are pretty much in line with the SHPR, 365pf and others (re aesthetics).....there is not much glitz in it. The fwy and hybrids are too shallow for me to even consider. But the irons for a GI look really good. And I like the satin look. Specs are ?for those of us looking for a GI/SGI with low offset. Can't wait to give the irons a spin!

Marketing or performance? You mean Cosmetics and performance? To that I say both.

I wont buy a Datsun just because it can outpace a Ferrari. I want something that looks like a Ferrari, too.

So, I will pay for both.

Wishon/Maltby/etc makes good stuff for a certain section of the golf world, but they will never rise to the level of the OEMs because their clubs look like copies of 1990's designs.

t-t-a-c, if the clubs took 5 strokes off your game, would you still not consider playing them? well, if you're ok with your Ferrari going slower than a Nissan (haven't been called Datsun in US since 1986, TW was 11 years old the same year) I guess you would. Sansabelt bellbottom slacks and white bucks were the Tour fashion once too.

If I was designing the cosmetics, I'd have left off the 3 circle design. Some of the TM driver graphics, Cobra/Callaway iron cavity designs where not to everyone's taste either and some graphite shaft graphics/names are a bit hokey.

Wonder if they'll come in LH to give them a try.

Stop. No matter how you try and force feed aesthetics don't matter, they 100% do. Tom is such a amazing club designer that I've always wanted to try his clubs. But I balk because, again, they look like cheap China components from Monark Golf. I know they aren't, but like @third-times-a-charm said, they are god awful looking. It's like he hired someone with no graphic design experience to do the job...

Old question coming back around:

For single-length players, do some of you trim the shafts on the single-length wedges to more traditional 36"-35.5" lengths? I've heard some golfers complain about set-up problems with 37" shaft wedges.

Also, for those who have the same single length for irons and wedges, what sort of set-up/mental adjustments did you need to make for the longer-shafted wedges?

I play them all the same. For me, it was a little harder to used to swinging the shorter 5 and 6 iron mentally, and not trying to oversewing. Once you get it down though, you will never hit so many consistent shots with a 5 iron. Direction is right on for me. On the longer PW, GW and SW, I have just gotten used to the swinging it like the other clubs. I do get higher ball flight, but I get the same distances I had before. If I need to lower the ball flight, I will choke down and hit a knock down shot and that still works when needed. Best thing for me is that my game doesn't seem to fall off by not practicing. I play one to two times a week and when I do practice, I literally practice chipping and putting. With the irons, I tend to have the same stance, distance from the ball, ball position etc, so it's like swinging the same iron throughout the set.

I used to play Mizuno's forever. Do I like the look of a Mizuno forged iron better than my Sterlings, of course, but I can't argue with the success in my game. I will probably try out the new irons and I would prefer less offset.

Looks is so subjective, a buddy of mine who just started loves flashy bright colors and tech being visible. I showed him a map-20’s and said this is a thing a beaut. He said “boring, seems small”

I love the single length F7’s, sold them for the Edel’s and struggled with the smaller head. It was nearly impossible for me to consistently hit a 4-6 to my desired lengths. I just didn’t have the ball striking ability to play them. I decided to go one length F7’s from 4-6i then normal forged 7-pw. Best golf I played for a year.

i would do it again as a combo between one and variable length. The new cobra’s look amazing but I could not combo a F9 with the forged tec. Far too much difference in appearance, subjective again.

No. The whole idea is to play the entire iron set at the same length. Wishon makes it easier on the wedges because the clubs are designed to be played at an 8-iron length. However, there's no magic here, so that means the set ends at a 5-iron instead of a 4-iron. (The Sterlings had a 4 iron, but you really had to bring it to use it.)

I've hit Sterlings for almost 4 years now. The wedges quickly become normal to hit, just as the 5-, 6-, and 7-irons do. It all melds into one thing, one swing. That's the point.

I have to laugh at the aesthetics issue, as if there was some objective standard to it all. If you're concerned about how your clubs look, you're less concerned than you should be about how they perform. That's all that really matters. But as we know, many players (especially posters here), are poseurs, not players. They love to point out how pretty their clubs are--blades, usually--that go 20 yards shorter and much more crooked. Fine. Pose. Preen. Whatever. But I played a lot better with my Cleveland VAS 792s than I did with the Mizuno blades I subsequently purchased. Those Mizunos were gorgeous, with a sweet spot the size of a pinpoint. Thankfully, I discovered the joy of Pings and never went back...until the Wishon Sterlings.

Would I pay attention to a pretty set of single-length irons? No. Performance is what matters. Period.

Wow. Wishon needs to up the quality of their website photos, 1000x better in your video than the website.

Could you compare the sole of the 8 iron of the Sterlings to the 8 iron of EQ1-NX?

My only peeve with the Sterlings is the sharp leading edge and it’s looking like the EQ1-NX is a little more blunt. Along with some more camber on the sole, I’m hope the EQ1-NX has a little better feeling through the turf.
