Members Choice: Best custom headcover company of 2020

No other group of golfers in the world tests golf clubs as frequently or as extensively, or is armed with such in-depth information about the latest technology.

So, WRXers, we're asking for your input on the best custom headcover company of 2020.

Before we get to the polling, however, we'd like you to help us narrow down the shortlist.

Please list your choice. And if you see your choice mentioned already, well, don't mention it, because it's already been counted. In a perfect world, there would be no repeat mentions.

Not sure about the "custom" part but if someone else were going to pay for it I would take a putter headcover by Lamb Crafted.

Sunfish and rawhide are on my list.

I have a couple of covers from Dormie. Great quality.

One is custom colors and embroidery on a stock pattern of theirs. They were great to work with and sending different mock ups of colorways.

Lucky Hop Golf does custom orders and are all hand made.

Honorable mention with an asterisk: Sunfish. I’ve ordered three items (yardage book, alignment stick cover and custom driver headcover) and only one transaction was as advertised. HOWEVER, their customer service has been exceptional and I was always taken care of. I just would have rather paid full price and received what was advertised.

Winston has amazing quality if you're looking for leather. Seamus is great for the fabrics, and I really enjoy the stuff coming from Push-Cut for custom covers.

Embroidery isn't what makes a headcover the best... you need to understand stitch work to appreciate finely crafted headcovers.

I'll cast my vote for Dormie as well. They are local for me which adds a "cool" factor IMHO! But I have a putter headcover I bought at Cabot Links in 2014 and I didn't do as good a job of taking care of it as I should have. The liner inside was wearing thin and the magnet that latches it closed was turned over so the edge was bending over when I would put my putter in. I emailed Dormie and asked if they would be able to repair it and they said bring it into the shop.

The shop... is tiny and cool AF. They have an old school 1940s-1950s open top golf cart out front which immediately catches your eye when going in. Inside the place is just jammed and just oozes "small business success story". There are leather samples and headcover sketches all over the place. There's not an inch of open table top anywhere. Golf bag after golf bag with clubs adorned with custom head covers.

I was greeted by one of the owners, Jeff upon coming in. He took my cover and inspected it and immediately placed it as a 2014 model based off the latching style of the headcover. We chatted for a little bit and he advised on best care techniques (just basic leather care stuff really). I left the headcover with him and a few days later he emailed that it was ready for pick-up. They had completely removed the inner liner and rebuilt it/restitched it. Aside from the outside wear on the leather its like brand new again. They didn't charge me anything and I left with a big smile that day.

I have purchased since a Cabot Cliffs driver headcover from them and they will forever be my go to going forward as I gradually get custom hybrid/3wood covers. Can't say enough good stuff about this outstanding small business and the quality of both their product and service.
