I am trying to make a mental inventory of Hogan wedges that were of the same design as their sets.

I know that there was at least a sand wedge for:

Radial

Redline?

Edge

Magnum

Channel Back

Apex Plus (also F and L)

Apex Edge Pro (also F and L)

Ftx?

Not the 99 or 03mb's I don't think, though there was a set of specialty wedges under the Apex line from around that time, way less common than the Carnoustie/Colonial/Riviera wedges from the same timeframe.

Have I missed any sets with their own set wedges? And of the Hogan set wedges, are any of them any good?

Redlines and 99 Apexes have an E wedge in the set, if that's what you're asking.

The Cameo Equalizer is a darn good wedge. I actually carry mine now for some specialty shots at my new home course.

I find the Apex Edge Pro F & L wedges to be very playable and as good as any "set wedges" you'll find.

If i understand correctly, you're inquiring about SW's. Redlines, Apex MB & Apex Plus, Apex Two Step, FTX, '93 Apex Forged, Apex PC, and the various Edges had a set SW. The Radial SW was better than the irons. Sorta like the wide flange Sure-Out wedge. Had a Redline SW with the set, thought the Special SI played better. Then again, despite their acclaim, Redlines didn't do it for me.

Apex PC, Redline, Grind, Ft Worth and Channel Back all have their own sand wedges.

Edge and Edge GS had a Sand Wedge

Both sets of Radials had a sand wedge

I think all of the perimeter weighted clubs from the Spalding years had F, S and L wedges. So that's Apex Plus, Apex Edge, Apex Edge Pro and Edge CFT. Same for Apex FTX which was Callaway.

Some of the older sets had Wedges. The Precisions had an Exploder Wedge. The Sabers from the late 50's had a Utility Wedge. There was a Sand Iron for the Power Thrusts and IPTs'.

Thank you all, yes I meant sand wedges. I think most sets at least from the first Apex forward had an equalizer. It's been hard for me to try and keep track of the various specialty wedges and their set wedge counterparts.I saw on Ebay the other day an Apex plus set, 1-E with F, and S (I wish L had been there fpr sake of completeness). I don't think many manufacturers have made 13 irons of the same set like what is available in the apex plus/edge pro.

Back in the 70s and 80s I will venture to say the Hogan company had the largest variety of specialized utility wedges different bounces grinds etc. They were also ahead of their time with available selections and lofts

My understanding of the 60’s and most of the 70’s is that some manufacturers (including Hogan) sold their sets as 2-9 iron. The E wedge and the S wedge were sold separately.

My Slazenger Hogan Edge 1972 or 73, were sold this way.

I played Eye2 irons for a very very long time and the PW in that set was a white Cameo Equalizer. Just never warmed up to the Eye2 wedge. The face on that Cameo was smoothed gray when I finally tossed it aside.

I picked the full set of these up and usually pair them with my 99s

I have a set of Apex Grinds that have a SW and what was called special wedge, LW probably.

What is an "F" wedge?

"Fairway" wedge I believe. The purpose was gap wedge, and slotted between E and S

Huh. I've never in my life heard the term "F wedge" before this thread. Gap wedge is what I've always heard it called.

A few companies called gap wedges F wedges, I know that Hogan and Mizuno did. Probably some others. Some called them A , Approach Wedges, like Nike and Callaway still does. Ping has a U wedge around that loft.
