New to Denver - Looking for competition - Maybe start a new group for all skill levels?

Hey Guys,

I'm new to Denver and really missing some competitive golf. I've looking online and haven't been able to find much. I'm dreaming here - but wanted to try to start a conversation and see if there anybody out there that might be looking for the same thing. I'm thinking we have a low cost event once - twice a month, throw some money in a pot, treat it like a real tournament and have some competition. I'd be happy to do all of the leg work to get this thing going. We could discuss "entry fees", handicaps/flights, etc.

Any interest?

Are the three traveling golf leagues in the area (Golf Channel, Golf Week, and Front Range Golf Club) not to your liking?

Thanks so much! The competition level looks great, its just a bit pricey for me right now. The membership fee + $100-200 entry fee gets me every time. The Front Range Golf Club is the most interesting of the three to me, personally.

If you want to go the inexpensive route, I would consider Kennedy or Wellshire men's clubs. Membership fee is equal to the travel tours, but the green fees are muni rates plus a little extra for the side games. When I first moved to Denver, I was a member of Kennedy for a few years until I started having kids. For me, however, the variety that the travel golf leagues provide is worth the extra cost.

I'll definitely check that out.

Are there cash prizes outside of a skins game?

For Kennedy/Wellshire? I honestly can't remember. I believe low gross/net for each flight is awarded as pro shop credit. There might have been cash prizes for closest to the pin.

For Front Range, there are cash prizes for the various games that are played (6-6-6, cart bet, foursome bet, net par 3/4/5 scores, skins, etc.). Closest to the pin is also cash. Low gross/net is almost always cash, except for a few courses (Indian Peaks being one of them) where they require prizes awarded as pro shop credit. Front Range is also full of degenerate gamblers with whom you can do even more off-the-books side bets if you want.

Not much of a flat our gambler myself. If I’m going to pay $150-200 For a round of golf I just want a chance to win my money back. Ha!
