Hey he made the minimum height requirement although there are rides at Universal he can't go on (yes, that was mean).

Seriously, while I don't agree with decisions he made and implications still continuing for decisions he made (like I have any clue about how to run the PGA TOUR, lol X 100) the guy ran a damn good ship, capitalized on opportunities (can you spell "Tiger") and did a lot of good in the process.

Easily well deserved.

This is a flat out embarrassment. This is akin to saying the captain of the Love Boat deserved a Medal of Honor...

To commemorate this outstanding achievement, Greg Norman will be presenting Tim a piece of artwork from his extensive collection.

I don't think that enhancing professional golfers' bank accounts is hall of fame worthy.

I agree but he's rightly or wrongly given a lot of credit for the First Tee which is generally viewed as significant and positive initiative in "growing the game".

I’m sure that’s all the Tour has done for the game and communities.

When the 2008 era crash happened, there was a lot of crisis management done well. Hell, some were even thinking the Euro Tour would catch up and challenge the PGA Tour back then. The policy board and Finchem ass kissing of corporate CEOs and government manipulators was actually a pretty impressive IMO

Not outraged, but Finchem has taken a spot that he really does not deserve. Four people are picked from a short list of 10. I would never pick a "clerk" over a three-time major winner.

Where I live, the first tee was a joke when started. Remote, farther than suburban site, where rich Grandpas or Grandmas dropped off their upper middle class kids for a few hours. So far from the urban area that it was laughable.

Finchem has done what the Players hired him to do....if Beman is in Finchem deserves to be in also, the HOF is more than who plays what and how many majors someone has, all you have to do is look how many commissioners has the LPGA been thru, and look at all the other major sports, be thankful golf has Finchem and not an idiot like the NFL, MLB, or NBA

I won't pretend to have any direct knowledge of the First Tee but it does receive a lot of acclaim in the (golf) media. I don't know if that is justified or not.

I believe he should, the growth of the Pga has been in the upward direction and he was at the helm. To give or not to give really doesnt do us any good to argue or even breakdown. There are probably different sections of the hall that has players and a section that has executives. He would get my vote.

Should there be no recognition of the folks behind the scenes that make the pga tour happen? I believe there should.

That said, there's probably a staffer that none of us know anything about, that has been a steadying influence and has implemented things that have made the tour better. Sadly, he / she will never get any recognition.

I guess it comes down to what do you think is the purpose of a "Hall of Fame". I'm not a "purist" and ultimately do not care who is in it; for any sport. I have never been to a HOF and will never go. What for? But if you want to honor "fame" in a sport it has to be 99% performance, and the occasional influencer who did something to really change the game in a long term meaningful way for the better. Coaches are very good candidates for this and the rare GM. But a commissioner of a sport that grew spectacularly thanks to Tiger? No.

Finchem is just right place at right time. Because he was commissioner of the PGA Tour and the PGA Tour was the biggest org (not biggest donor) of all the tours involved with the creation of First Tee (USGA, Augusta, PGA, LPGA) he gets the credit? Nonsense. Jack Stephens, chairman if Augusta, personally donated $5M to get First Tee started. Is he in the HOF?

The most adept things Finchem did was maintain tax exempt status with Congress, and not get in a political scandal to lose his job. Maybe we can add to that he successfully shielded all dirty laundry and pretty much covered up any indiscretion of a player. Well...almost...some discretions were just too big.
