He's a member at the Bears Club as well but apparently didn't like how long the rounds took. That is apparently what led to him building the Grove.

Bill Gates be like,

Good afternoon, Michael Jordan

Hey Bill

Would you like to play Bridge with myself and Warren later? We are having hot cocoa.

Uh, love to but I...have to get going after my round.

Ok. Next time. Hey do you remember those “I want to be like Mike commercials”?

I do, Bill

They were awesome ; )

He’s not a member. Unless he just chooses not sport a green jacket every year and walk around during the masters. Seems like the kinds of badass power move he would love to make public. doesn’t seem to be very like mike to skip the masters if he’s an Augusta member.

Also, like hawk said. I play sporting Augusta wear. A hundred thousand are more people a year get the opportunity to get new Augusta wear to play in.

There isn’t and official list of members available to the public.

USATODAY.com - Augusta National Golf Club members list Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

Not complete, nor official but here are two lists, the first one via USA Today was leaked in 2004(?) the second from Bloomberg is more recent cross referenced with the 2004 list and updated (it ain’t complete by any means but it’s fairly accurate I know four names on this list that are definitely members at ANGC).

For every name your recognize there’s five you probably have no idea...it’s a regular club that happens to host the best golf tournament in the world (in my opine).

I'm not too critical as I genuinely think they do a lot for the game.

There are other "very exclusive" clubs that are less high profile and don't get the scrutiny that ANGC get's with regards to the make up of their membership.

Absolutely I know Brad fairly well from ANGC and several members quite well, Augusta National does it very best to grow the game...literally. Their intern program is one the best in the world, which is fantastic because it exposes the young interns to the very best practices. Their drive chip and putt initiative is one of the coolest things ever to me, the ladies amateur was fantastic in its first year and will only get better.

just curious what are your critiques of other high end clubs and why do you feel that way? I in no way want to get into an argument I just don’t understand the flak exclusive privates are sometimes subject too.

Personally I think a private club can do what it wants so I wouldn't criticise them. If they discriminate on race, religion etc. I would criticise that but single-gender sporting clubs are traditional and I'm not sure it's the problem some make out.

When it comes to ANGC or Muirfield, Scotland, for example, when they host events like The Masters or The Open its blurs the line a little on the "private club" thing and they can't avoid the negative PR side of being men only etc. If a club wants to remain true to its origins then they miss out on these things hence Muirfield has adapted but am I right that Pine Valley hasn't changed and that's why it isn't considered anymore for the Walker Cup.

I think the flak comes from the idea of the attitudes of the people at these kind of clubs but you can get that from some at any golf club.

Fair point.

Respectfully (without knowing people here), theres a difference between MJ and posters here. It would be like if someone saw me wearing a Puma hat or drinking from a Redbull bottle vs Rickie Fowler wearing Puma/Redbull. Or, kind of random pick, if you saw Eli Manning driving a Benz you might think he has a local sponsorship, whereas you assume I paid for the one I'm driving.

On the membership side, everyone can get invited to a club or go to event there. The guys at my local course sometimes sport ANGC gear, I don't wonder if they're taking a break from playing Augusta.

Agreed.

Maybe I'm thinking about this wrong, but I always thought being a member at ANGC was more the prestige of saying you belong/helping with the Masters, with playing the course actually being third in line. I think (correct me if I'm wrong) the club is only open half the year for member play.

But re-thinking it a little, ANGC probably has a "certain" type of member, meaning, someone professional but not too high profile. At this point, a guy like MJ probably just wants to play golf, gamble, and chill, not debate about new policies at the Masters. Just thinking, it would be cool to say you're a member there which MJ might enjoy.

Grove23 sounds like a fun outing. Carts that can reach 40 mph and a unwritten rule to play 18 in less than 3 hours. Talk about flying..

When we were lucky enough to go in '16 I was on high alert hoping to run into her because I thought my daughter should meet her (if it seemed appropriate). Unfortunately the only time we saw her she was at her post on one of the tees at the par 3 tourney and it was going on so no reasonable way to interrupt her. I was a little gun-shy already - earlier in the day after putting out our chairs we were walking back up the hill from the par 3 course and on the other side of the rope walking down the hill was Faldo and a lady friend. I said (I thought in a friendly way) "Sir Nick Faldo" (and it's me, my daughter, them and nobody else around and I said "Sir"). She smiled and he literally recoiled in awkwardness and just kind of walked on. We just laughed, but it was weird.

I'll bet Condi wouldn't have blown us off.
