The Cla6 minimalist practice bag

2JYJ5F5LO8GS.jpgThis is my practice bag. I used it for the range or walking 9 holes in an evening. All cheapish clubs that I paid less than £15 each for (other than the becu). Will do some work on them all after lockdown to bring them closer to my gamers specs but will list the detail on what I want to do to each club in future posts below.

Driver - 10.5 - titleist 983k h-cr

7 wood - 22 - callaway big bertha ('04)

6 iron - 31 - wishon 752tc

Pw - 46 - adams idea pro gold forged

Sw - 57.7 - ping eye 2 becu

Putter - odyssey o works 1 tank

Aimed for 12* loft gaps and I have various 6 and 7 irons I swap in and out to the middle spot.

Love this setup. I've wanted to try out a six or seven club setup for a while now. This is inspiration

I’ll take 5 clubs and move up a tee box.

4 hybrid, and I putt with it arm lock style.

6, 8, P, S.

3 or 4 golf balls and that’s it, in a Sunday bag. Putters are heavy, more so if a head cover is needed. And putting with the hybrid teaches how to chip with it.

M4 Driver
4, 7, 9 woods

5, 6 Adams hybrids
7-GW Maltby irons
54 & 58º Wedges

Cheers. I'll be posting my nike set soon, but I'm still 2 clubs short of the full 9 I intend on bagging.

Spent alot more on my main bag! It's basically the most fogiving clubs you can get. But my half sets are all about having fun

That is minimalist as they get - nice!

"Shirtsleeve" swing technique:

1. Setup: Elbows bent forearms pressed together against shaft slightly forward of center with "Hogan" "active/flexed" leg tension left foot turned out slightly and the right leg slightly farther to the right - weight mostly on balls of feet butt of left hands sits on the top of the grip with very light grip.

2. Swing - W/o disturbing weight distribution of legs and feet lower hands while doing a forward press "swing trigger" then the left upper arm takes over on the backswing, it needs to go out in front of the body then back in front of the chest as the hands trace down initially then up to over the right shoulder "Torres". The goal is to not disturb the pressure of the feet during the initial takeaway.

Notes:

1. Only swing thought after swing trigger - extend left arm at shirt sleeve when reaching left hand over right shoulder "Shirtsleeve technique".

2. The upper left arm move "Shirtsleeve technique" can be practiced independently without a club, sitting down for instance

3. The correct feet tension can be felt by doing very short hops on the balls of the feet then holding the same feeling of pressure on the front of the feet and then taking three practice swings with the grip very loose in order to not disturb the same pressure on the feet and on the 3rd swing actively do the "Shirtsleeve" move. From there the swing should be done within a matter of seconds to not lose the feel of the legs resisting, this way this is not a learned technique as much as it is a setup technique.

Love the setup but not as much as I love the irony of 3 gloves making up 30% of your bag.

After collecting a whole bunch of 7 irons to mess about with I ended up just keeping the 718's, using the ap2 in as my gamer, the cb for the range and the ap1 for when i feel like blasting 7 iron shots at top golf with reckless abandon! As they are cart heads, I use the shame shaft in all 3.

I figured having a cupboard full of 7 and 6 irons wasnt very minimalist of me. They were fun to try out though.
