The “O” closed last month ; the Burgh sheds a tear

I was introduced to the “O” as a freshman at Pitt way back in 1967. Sadly the doors have closed. Remember taking my wife there and freaking her out with a small fry order - the size of a cafeteria tray. The dogs weren’t for me but I had lots of their hoagies and fries - a staple when I was in grad school. My son recently graduated from Duquesne University. He had been to the "O" a few times. I see Kodak, TN in your signature. Ever play at River Island out there?

Once. 5 hours and 12 holes. I left. Meh course. Too squeezed into the land and not friendly for high cappers plus required carts. I joined a 4 of cousins who were hitting their third shot over the river on hole 3. Still had to wait. As a five I was a golf god to these guys lol. Owners attempted to auction it a few years back. Don’t know what happened. Actually just checked and it is now called island pointe Not much info on their web page.

This is devastating news. No delicious cheese dogs or mountains of fries. I grew up around there. Definitely a top 5 inebriation meal. Add in a glass of OJ & 800mg ibuprofen and you might be functional by 10am.
