Who plays a 5 wood? And what is best 5 wood for the money? Really needing something that flys about 230ish. I would love to put a gapr low 2 in the bag but can’t find them anywhere.

as for the 5 wood i play a PING G400 i like it i was playing the 917F2 but i think the Ping performs better for me overall

I game the 2017 TM M2 5w. High launch and good distance from it. No complaints and easier to hit than my 3h.

use to play ping g400 5 wood, recently switched to cobra speedzone 5 wood. much better feel and sound, and for myself, more consistent. YMMV

Cobra F8+ 4-5 wood is the best I’ve played. Currently gaming it. Worth a look and can be had for a decent price.

Recently picked up a jpx 900 5 wood with a real speeder evolution ii shaft for $60. Been messing with it for a few rounds and at range. I never gamed a 5 wood, but I will say they are way better than hybrids.

Guy in my group hits his G410 5 wood very well. It sounds amazing and high ball flight. Wish he was lefty so I could hit that 5 wood.

I was shopping online for a G400 5 wood and stumbled across a G410 on a screaming deal from a big box store up here in Canada so it is en route to me and should arrive any day. I’ve been playing a G30 for 5 years and always liked it. The G30 will go in my second bag.

Funny I love the look of the G400 so not sure how I will feel about the 410.

Will the 5W be your only FW? Or, if you already carry a 3W or a 4W, how far does it fly?

For players with two fairway woods, fitters often recommend either a 3W + 5W | or | 4W + 7W.

A 5W or 7W will give you better launch/distance out of the rough than a long iron.

Also, how often do you hit a FW off the deck in a round?

I play the M3 as I like that it has smaller head than any recent TM 5 wood along with the adjustability of CG with the sliding weight to dictate ball flight.

I'm always partial to Titleist fairway woods and like my TS3. Small head. Great out of the rough.

Cobra 5 woods are the ultimate escape clubs -- I loved the F9 Tour -- and would probably play that as my second choice.

If you are looking for a bargain, the Callaway Rogue, Titleist 917, and Cobra F9 can all be had for cheap on eBay.

I second giving the rogue a try. Can be had for a great price and they flat out perform. Easy to hit as well. F8+ are so good. Another one to look into would be mizuno st 190. Fantastic looking fairways.

For 5 woods I prefer smaller heads. Easy to pick off the fairway and launch off of a tee.

I just made the same switch. I loved the G400 Max driver. The G400 5-wood was good....but I actually preferred the G20. I love the Speedzone driver, so bought the matching 5-wood. It literally went from the store to the course. I only had one opportunity to use it. I hit it off the tee on a short par 4 and it was absolutely perfect. I look forward to getting it out on the range tomorrow.

Really have liked what’s come out of cobra the last few years (F9 tour, F8+) and I am not a cobra guy. Smaller heads, rails, etc make them very easy coming out of the rough.

F7/ tour green shaft/half inch shorter. May look for speed zone for no good reason at all.

I still game my tour issued R11 5wood on certain courses...have yet to find anything newer that can beat it out.

I like this idea. Years ago I played a Callaway Warbird 4 wood. I don’t know why I ever got rid of it.
