The last Lefty!!! .....bag on earth?!?

Recommended Posts

What bags are you lefties carrying? To my knowledge there is only 1 (ONE!) left handed carry stand bag in this world... Sun Mtn 3.5 in Black/Black. & Once you go black Lefty 3.5 you don't go back! Well... because its literally the ONLY true lefty bag I've ever found. But I'm in the market as mine is over used and breaking down after another 10+ years on this last one, they last. Is this really the only option for us southpaws? I hear of so many more lefties in Canada, any great bags you left-hand-low guys got? Anything else out there that is designed for the true lefties, with left hand straps (Heads hang left) and pad rests on left hip? Curious if anyone has a anything else going on because if not..... its back to black! ....Sun Mountain 3.5LS Stand Bag in Black/Black..... you are our only hope!

PS. Sun Mtn- after 30 years with same bag brand and model.... think we could maybe just get one in Masters green?

In the same boat, been rocking my 3.5 for many many years. And now that they went to a 4 way divider, I'm hanging on to my six way even more.

The only other company that would even consider doing a lefty was Vessel. I talked to them a few years ago and they said they would switch all the pockets to make the bag left carry.

I’m a deep deep lefty - every sport, writing, right hand borderline useless.

But I don’t understand the need for or appeal of a lefty bag. That’s like asking for a left handed car to me?

It’s a bag. That hangs off your shoulders. As long as it’s comfortable and the weight is well distributed I don’t see a role for dexterity

I certainly do undersatnd the appeal of a lefty bag - being able to use left arm for initial pickup for me has always been easier than right. I don't have a lefty bag, but i did switch the "backpack" straps around for lefty carry - just need to be careful what I put in the main pocket so it doesn't hit wrong on my lower back.

At least we have a good selection from OEM's now! When I started this game 40+ years ago, lefty clubs were as rare as sanitizer today :)

I play golf righty but am a left writer and do many other things lefty. I would consider myself "left arm leading". When I first started playing golf I had a difficult time leading with the right arm to pick up my bag and carried it "backwards". I finally made myself learn to lead with the right arm and adjusted. Never knew such a thing as a left handed bag existed. I do wish for many other left handed things though.

I'm in the same bag so to speak, can't give up the 6 way fore the 4, even though the pockets and stand system on newer version 3.5's are better than mine. But I've worn the feet off and done some fixes and patching so its not going to make it much longer.

I've looked at a couple custom bags but never could justify price over Sun Mtn, and I do truly appreciate them giving us an option so I've supported the program, and probably will again.

I'm pretty good with cars and have even struggled on the other side driving in NZ. But it is so much more natural and comfortable to grab the bag with left hand/arm. Just reversing which side they sew the pockets and hip pad on does't seem like a big ask, and there's no expense for R&D such as in creating lefty clubs.

I mean Lefties are approximately 10% of the population. Just seems like there would be some other options out there but perhaps not.

I wish they would drop the stupid 4 way, if they did I'd pick up a new lefty sun mountain. Heck I'd even take a 14 way and then hacksaw it down to a six or eight myself ha. But the 4 way just sucks.

I completely agree on the custom route, can't really justify the price. The 3.5 gets it done in every respect. I guess I'm just waiting until SM makes a change.

  • 1 year later...

Left-handed golf bags have the straps and back padding on the right (opposite) side of the bag.  I have an Izzo (not made anymore), 2-Sun Mountains and my latest is the G-Fore Daytona (not Plus) bag which I reversed the straps on (it has quilting on the right side).  It makes it easier to remove the clubs with my left hand.
