Best cast irons, ie irons that don’t get bag chatter

Was looking for opinions an what the best cast irons, ie irons that don’t get bag chatter. Yes I realize forged are better, chatter adds character, blah blah. But my OCD does not allow for that.

I am a pretty good player. I go between 0-3 handicap the last couple of years.

i will be honest, the Mizuno 919 Pro hot metals and Mizuno MP20 HMB interest me. Right now that 919’s are about $400 cheaper.

But curious if there are any other good options out there?

It will be easier and better to buy a bag that doesn't have the irons chatter much vs playing irons that don't fit you well just because of you "OCD".

If that's not a possibility then irons covers are calling your name.

MP-20 HMB is forged, so scratch that one. Depends on how big you want to go. The Hot Metal Pro and Hot Metal are pretty large, definitely in the larger sole, decent offset, thick topline territory. If you're down for that, I say go for it, they are awesome irons. However, if you want a smaller iron overall that most better players prefer, I would suggest Ping i210, Ping i500, Callaway Mavrik Pro, Honma TW 747P, and Titleist T200 for current offerings.

What you're interested in would be the iron's finish. My former X20 Tours had a brush nickel finish that simply didn't show the dings that shiny chrome get. A satin finish will help the same way.

Also an iron with the black DBM (diamonized black metal) finish would work. DBM is much more durable than some of the dark smoke tints.

This is good advice. My 919 hot metal pro pitching wedge doesn’t have bag chatter but it showed wear pretty quickly... my old Taylor made irons look almost as good as the day I bought them.

Find yourself an Ogio Silencer bag somewhere and call it a day. Got one of those the day I bought my MP-5s and when I sold those MP-5s 3 years later they looked nearly as new as the day I got them. Getting some iron covers for travel in the car can help too.

Golfnhack, I have an odd problem with the forged irons also, I don't like the higher pitched sound they make when clanking together in the bag, either walking or riding. I like playing them but that noise bugs me, especially when the cart is traveling across rough paths. I've been playing Tommy Armour 845's or Titleist 990's lately and the noise is much better, more muted or dull. I'm a carpenter and also prefer the cast hammers like Vaughn or Plumb vs forged such as Hart because of the pitch difference when struck.

It’s i210s / iBlades here without question right? I remember when I sold a set of i10s.. Looked amazing a decade after I bought em.. I know Pings finish is a little different now but they can’t be that different than past offerings.. Another point about cast clubs, soft forgings move around loft/lie over time.. Cast won’t.. For us guys that can’t get that stuff checked all the time cast is a great option for long term loft/lot consistency
