PXG 0311T / 0311P forgiveness question

So with the PXG sale going on and lots of chatter about that on the forums I figured I’d ask about the irons to see how they compare from a forgiveness standpoint.

Obviously the P is more forgiving than the T but I was hoping there might be some comparisons to other brands out there.

Would it be a fair assessment that the T is roughly on par with the 718 AP2 and the P is comparable to the Ping I210? Just looking for some reference points.

I may explore blending a set with P long irons and T short irons so also interested to see if anyone has done that or what time of combo set they built.

From an aesthetic standpoint the T's at address are like AP2's or between MB's and AP2's. From a forgiveness standpoint the T's are either like AP3's or between AP1's and AP3's. They are extremely forgiving for the class of club they are in. I've played AP1's, AP2's and full set TMB's. I think my T's are significantly more forgiving than my full set TMB's when looking at toe/heel misses on Trackman. Sole width/Top line width/clubhead size should be your main deciding factor. Both T's and P's are very forgiving.

Ended up ordering the Gen 2 0311T's 4-P. Comparing to my 718 AP2's it looks like there is a bit more help and a slightly longer profile with a bit wider sole. Really liking the look and eager to hit these. For reference, am a 3 handicap but don't get to play all that much (1x per week usually).

Interested to hear what you think. I took advantage of their sale on Gen 2 0311's and added the 3 and 4 iron in P to my 5-G set of Gen 3 T's.

I got the T in PW - 5i, and just the 4i in the P. Really love the combo. I use a 4iron mainly off the tee on tight par 4s, up in Denver and carry about 235 rolling to 250 or a bit more depending. Its awesome. I"m not a fan of chunky irons, and these clubs are just ridiculously forgiving. Even the T heads the P you have to almost try to miss and even then you lose maybe 10 yards on a horendous strike. Very happy with the set

I’ve played two rounds with the 0311T now and can say they are pretty forgiving for a players club, more so than my 718 AP2’s by a noticeable margin. Mishits are penalized a bit but still are in the ball park. Really liking them thus far but still need to play more with them.

Which generation of the T’s?

Gen2 0311Ts are more forgiving than Gen3 which are smaller

Did same thing but 4,5 in the 0311P and 7-PW in 0311T. They do feel little harder than gen1 but I think Gen2 feel more solid than Gen3

Gen 2. They are not super, super soft but still feel really good (I actually don’t prefer the super marshmallow-y feel so these seem to fit the bill). I also got them with the C Tapers so that could contribute to a slightly firmer sensation at impact.

Footprint it certainly bigger than my AP2’s, with wider soles but they still look good at address. I would say it’s somewhere between a AP2 and AP3 as was noted above and a good comparison / analogy. I decided to just go full 0311T 4-P rather than the 0311P in the 4 iron but my initial feeling is that there is enough forgiveness in the long irons so I’m happy with the decision.

Overall I am very happy thus far. Think it addresses what I was looking for in a very forgiving players iron that still maintains a decent look behind the ball. I would say a 6 to even a 10 handicap could get away with hitting the T irons (although they may want to look at the P in the longer irons).

Ball flight appears to be on par with my AP2’s although I have different shafts in each set (C Taper 120 S hard stepped vs. PX LZ 6.5 in my AP2).

I'm not sure I agree with that. I have hit the Gen 2's and own the Gen 3 T's and I think even though the Gen 3's are smaller, they are a little more forgiving.

Well sure if I spent $350-400 a stick Id say that haha. I have Gen3 0311P and theyre not anymore forgiving than Gen2

Ha! I’m not super concerned with the price, especially since I can return them if I wish.

I was just stating my observations. The size is perfect, the offset is perfect, and they just happen to be forgiving! :)

Frankly Ive had Gen1 0311, Gen2 and Gen3 0311P and felt all were big for the head size. Gen2 0311T arent any smaller than my 2019 Apexs
