Virtual Club Hunting

Found kind of a fun site on youtube that kind of connected me with some degree of normalcy . Its about a young couple that go

around to various places buying golf clubs. I think mainly to resell on ebay but also to play. They are not into the classics but its

interesting to see all the stuff they find at Goodwill , Thrift shops, Fea Markets etc. The name of their YouTube channel is Stacked Golf.

Watch them all the time. Oddly there are No golf clubs in any of the thrift stores near me

I hope they stay small. They are ruining it for the rest of us!

When I posted about these folks several weeks back the mods buried it someplace where no one from this section of the board would find it. Maybe they'll leave yours alone.

I do the club hunting in my area. It's fun for a while. Then, after you have been back to the same thrift store a half dozen times and see the same Dunlop's and knock-off Big Bertha irons over and over, it gets old.

I agree 100%--- Remember I am not new to this collecting thing. I was into it back in the 70s and 80s. I can remember back in the late 70s Golf Digest ran an article about hidden gems at yard sales etc. Suddenly old Mac and Spalding drivers the prices went up drastically. Then it dropped after a while. Then we had the Japanese club collector craze in the 80s early 90s. I sold a lot of stuff then had some connections in that business and did well from stuff I had stocked up. Yep it comes and goes and I do not really think it will affect us that much. Most mainstream folks could care less about the "outdated antique junk" we collect. Now I could see it affecting us if they get involved in the high dollar really collectible stuff like a LFF or Penna white driver. What I see them doing is maybe affecting prices on what I call mid old stuff that is still good like a R-7 Quad driver.

It will be interesting to see how collectable the clubs of today are in 50 years. My son was playing with one of my Mac drivers today, a really nice LH2W and was smoking it. We were waiting on the 9th tee and comparing the beauty of the Mac to the functionalism of the modern Titleist, Ping and Callaway. Modern clubs are soulless.
