Why is there no place here to GIVE away clubs?

I would think there would. Be a thread where clubs and such could just be given, not sold, to someone who need and wants the item and is willing to pay the shipping? What is your thinking ?

I just gave about fifty clubs, 2 or 3 sets good shafts etc that someon here might could have used . I’m not talking about a charitable contribution. There is a locked thread where someone offered to give a wedge he couldn’t use to someone. Why was it locked?

Can you find and donate them to a first tee program in your area? They can definitely use them.

I've given away three driver heads one complete driver and a set of irons with no problem.

I have donated to first tee before. I just thought someone on here might like to have them. Every now and fellas on here have found something or had something the just don’t need

Tell me about it. I have a ton of 1930’s era clubs and would love to get them in the hands of people that want them, not just dump them at Goodwill.

On the bst threads are locked when the item is sold. Perhaps he found a taker for the wedge and locked the thread?

Because, for this crowd, giving away a club is a recipe for regret. This crowd only sells clubs to feed the club ho habit. Metaphorically, you don't give your sister away, you sell her for drugs.

You could place an ad in the BST forum, "free clubs, you pay shipping". I've done it with success in other forums.

I thought they had a Play it Forward section on here a while back----- I think I know who got that wedge thread locked--- There is a guy who trolls and thinks he is a self appointed moderator and reports stuff. He jumped on a newbie member the other day on open forum and I let him have it up front. Figured it may get me banned or at least a warning but never heard anything from the powers that be

I can tell you something about First Tee or at least around here. Most of the stuff we would donate they will not use but scrap. My boss who is also a golf bud let me in on that one so we set them up to see. We donated a set of Titleist CB irons ( forgot the model) that came from the Goodwill bins to begin with. 2 weeks later they showed back up. Pretty decent clubs. I have also salvaged usable older clubs from the First Tee pile too. I have offered to do club work for them free in the past several times and have never heard back. I have done some free work for kids in the past in those traveling golf leagues around here.

When I moved from Texas to Arizona I gave First Tee nine comple sets, bag, irons, woods and putters. Don’t know what the did with them. I see now there is a poster in front of clubs for sale on eBay noting they are First Tee. The donated clubs are almost all ways to big for kids. I’ve seen some nice clubs advertised.

There is a thread here about clubs people are looking for but it doesn’t seem to be read very often judged from the comments.

Wtfyea just an ad in the bst will do fine. Unless u wanna pay shipping as well.

I contribute set to the local FirstTee every year. But I make sure they have new grips on and are not Stiff shafts.

I would never donate to Goodwill. It is a for profit business. Donate to other companies who are non-profit and who donate their proceeds to worthy causes. I have a hard time donating items for the intention to benefit others when the profits pay the CEO of a donation company millions in bonuses. Donate to the Veterans or to ARC or SPCA or other organizations that help those in need.

im not crazy about donating to goodwill either. The whole purpose of this thread was just if someone needed or wanted something you were getting rid of just give it to the if the pay shipping. I’ve given a lot of stuff away here . At my age I’m trying to just get rid of, not add to. I check the club wanted thread almost everyday.

OfferUp, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, Mercari, etc. People are always trying to lowball sellers on those sites/apps anyway, so I'm sure you'd be able to give them away there (although it's likely they'd try to sell them).

I guess i could put them on marketplace and blow em out for a few bucks. No fees, no shipping. Pile em deep, sell em cheap.

As far as I know you only have to list a price in BST and there is no minimum.

That thread was mine and I locked it once I found someone who took the club.

I've seen some signs that 1930s Pyratone and coated shaft clubs might at last be starting to get the recognition they deserve, at least over here in the UK.

I've bought a few sets in the past just to save them from certain doom but recently I've seen sets of average clubs selling for £15 to £35,
