I would think it depends on the size of your hands. Because I have large hands, I'd tend away from tapered grip. I don't use that grip on putter but use a similar reverse overlap grip 99% of the time on irons; my right lower hand then becomes dominate. For that reason I have the lower grip built up a bit more.

I prefer a midsize - larger grip ( not the huge jumbo super stroke ones ).... this year on all my putters I have the GripMaster FL27 and love it.

Too bad we have COVID-19 blocker. Best way to test out would be at a golf expo when company reps let you try different putters with different grips.

I putt left hand low as well and have used a SS Pistol GT Tour and 1.0 for years, but I think its time to move back to rubber grip. I know it wasn't part of your question about shape, but grip material can give you very different feedback as well. I would say most prefer some pistol shape/taper to the top hand. Looking at trying out the Golf Pride Pro Only Green Star or Lamkin Deep Etch.

????what cw1209 says. I made the switch from the SS grips.

Ive been left hand low for a long time. Give the Golf Pride Tour Only Green a look. Fantastic grip at a great price point...and it will last. I really like the one on mine.

Also left hand low, and use a Lamkin Deep Etch. That pistol shape and taper works perfectly for my stroke. Had been using SuperStroke 1.0 P grip but ultimately needed a but more of a pistol shape with more arch.

I putted crosshanded for many years. I always preferred a flat area on the lower part of the grip. My fav grip then was the Golf Pride Special, but that grip isn’t made anymore. So I would choose the Lamkin deep etch, or the new Golf Pride Pro Only Blue Star.

i've putted left hand low for 15+ years (though it's right hand low since i'm a lefty), i don't find any difference in the type of grip you'd use because of it. Use something that you are comfortable with

I've used everything from small Ping Blackouts to oversize jumbo grips, and everything in between

What kind of putter head do you play? Are you an aggressive releaser, slight arc stroke, SBST? A non-taper grip should help you calm down head rotation, regardless of LHL. If your left hand is simply uncomfortable, you may want to consider a midsize pistol like the tour snsr red or Lamkin deep etched.

Personally, I putt LHL and have a GT 1.0 on a Bettinardi SS28 CS (all my putters are center shaft). I feel like it goes well with the little bit of toe hang and a slight arc to the stroke. GT 1.0 would also go well with a flow neck blade or anser style.

With non-taper and/or jumbo size grips, my left thumb goes more to the side, straightening out the stroke. This is totally fine for a face balanced putter imo, for me it’s a 400g Piretti Teramo mallet w their 150g “Fat” grip; heavy total weight, but very smooth. I’d also go non-taper/jumbo for a #7 mallet, slant neck Spider, etc.

This info is gold, thank you my good sir! Really helped with some clarity of stroke and affects.

Right now I am in a Spider X slant neck, that I would also love to trim down. Any thoughts on that? It is stock at 35" would love it at 34.5" or 34 1/4". After some research I understand how that can impact swing weight, but it might be possible by heading some heavier weights in the head and a heavier grip, it could offset? I have been looking into the Golf Pride SNSR Straight as a possible grip to put on there.

Thank you so much for your time!

I also putt lead hand low and have found i really like the Golf Pride Tour SNSR straight it has no taper at all. They make 2 sizes the 104cc and 140cc grip. I prefer the 104 it is fairly skinny for a non-taper grip. I have tried many grips and have landed on this one. I think alot of it has to do with what putter you are using. I also think alot has to do with what area of putting you need the most help if it's short putts maybe a larger grip will help stabilize your stroke if it's distance control a smaller grip may give you better feel. I also believe that if you have a straight back straight thru stroke a larger grip may work better but if you have more of an arc then maybe a smaller grip will work better. I have tried both sizes in the SNSR straight the larger size did give me a little more help on short putts but the smaller one works better for me overall. I found on short putts with lead hand low the Superstroke Fatso 5.0 was the absolute best grip I have ever tried. I was automatic with it but my distance control on longer putts was terrible. There were times I was leaving putts 5 or 6 feet short or 5 or 6 feet past the hole. Find a putter that you really like and then fine tune it with the grip.

My putter is 380 grams which is a little heavy to begin with so It probably helped balance mine out a bit. It's hard to say what effect you will feel. If you are struggling with short putts anyway extra weight in the hands should help.
