Capital One's The Match: Champions for Charity thread...Sunday, May 24 @ 2 PM EST...TNT/TBS

Sunday, May 24. Live coverage begins at 2 p.m. ET

● Television Broadcast: TNT, TBS, truTV and HLN

● Format: Four-Ball (Best Ball) format on the front nine and a Modified Alternate Shot format on the back nine, where each participant will tee off and then the team will play alternate shot from the selected drive. The unique combination of formats is aimed to provide an entertaining mix of strategy, team collaboration and consequence to nearly every shot. As part of the competitive play, there will also be a set of on-course challenges to raise additional charitable funds.

As it's supposed to be a beautiful day here in LA, I doubt I'll watch much of it...but I enjoy reading the comments!

Anyone in Canada know what/if any stations will broadcast? Happy to subscribe to a channel for a month, but TNT and TBS are not available through Telus Optik. Is HLN Headline news (run by CNN)? Looks like I may be able to get that one, but is it really broadcasting this?

Edit to answer my own questions in case anyone else is curious -

HLN is available (on Telus Optik at least), is Headline news, and will be carrying this in Canada. Subbed for a month an have the PVR set.

Will it just be the same camera/feed on all the channels?

Supposed to rain so I'l have it on, likely while doing other stuff. Should be interesting to watch --- better than working on raised garden bed assembly (now I'm kind of hoping it rains Saturday, also).

Can't wait! I bet this event will draw far better ratings than last week, so many names and fun formats to get casual / non-golfers involved. Several non-golfers have asked me about it surprisingly, they are watching to see Brady.

I have 5 figures on TW this match. I think he has something to prove after The Match I and he's going to win BIG.

I have a feeling that Phil is going to miss the cut..

How long before the lock on this one for "bickering" ? Will it make it to the match?

I can see this one being better than last weekends. If nothing else because they will have watched last weeks one and realised that it was poor. Randomly the coverage here in the UK is on CNN?!?

The FormatThe 18 hole match-play event will feature a front 9 four-ball format with both Manning and Brady given three handicap strokes on the opening nine – one stroke each on a par 3, par 4 and par 5 hole.

The back 9 will feature a modified alternate shot format, where each player will tee off, and then each side will choose the ball they wish to proceed with and take alternate shots from there until the hole is finished.

Should a playoff be required, players will play an adjusted 100-125 yard 18th hole which will keep the modified alternate shot format.

*On-course challenges to raise additional charitable funds will be included in the event, with the first set to take place on the fifth hole where players will only be allowed to use one club.

Location and Date3 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 24 from Medalist Golf Club.

How To WatchThe Match will be simulcast on TNT, TBS, truTV and Headline News. The event can also be streamed on fuboTV.

To be fair, CNN is pretty much a non-entity in the UK when it comes to viewership and their share of it so from a UK perspective I really don’t know much about them at all.

Looks like TW had a Mizuno iron in his bag today.

If you're not aware, hole 5 is the "one club challenge" hole. It may not be optimal, but it would be magical to see TW pull out the 2 iron for this hole. Tee shot would be perfect no doubt, and 2 iron is the best non-putter club on the greens. But I don't know about the approach, maybe he can REALLY open up the face and come in softly, or roll one up. Just another reason why this event is CAN'T MISS tomorrow.

Edit: I just checked the layout of hole 5. If I'm TW, I hit a stinger 260-270, setting up a 140 yard approach. There is a plateau where the green sits about 90 yards from the pin, TW just needs to hit a low soft 2 iron about 100 yards and it will roll up to the pin. If I'm TW, I'm practicing non-stop 100 yard pitch shots with my 2 iron today. Now that I think about this more, I wonder if this has been TW's plan from the beginning (maybe he pushed to make this hole one-club for a reason). Remember it's TW's home course, he knows what he's doing.

I guess the other question is what Phil is going to do on this hole. Probably try to spit the distance in 2, maybe 7 iron + 7 iron. Phil loves crazy shots and clubs, so if there's one guy I trust to putt with a 7 iron, it's Phil. Still I give TW a huge edge on this hole due to course knowledge.
