Moderate Speed P790 Users

Any moderate swing speed users had success with the P790? Know it’s a low spin iron, so thinking of a Nippon 950GH or even Zelos 6 shaft in steel or a UST Recoil in graphite - all regular flex to help with launch and spin. Enough forgiveness in this combo for a mid handicapper?

Try making them 2* weak. Will help getting the ball in the air and add some spin. Might lose a bit of distance?! But these are built for distance, so might not be an issue!?

I. find them pretty forgiving in the 6 to AW setup. I’m a moderate SS player who doesn’t get along with graphite. I have Modus 105’s in them and they launch high with a tight ball flight. Go back and forth between these an PXG XP’s, love both of them for different reason.

I have a 77ish SS with a 7 iron. 11 handicap. Usually a short, high spin, flippy hitter

I had these for 3 months in completely wrong shafts. I’m talking 50g lighter than I should shafts (recoil 760 f3). With that said. They were very very fun once I got the tempo right for those Uber wrong for me shafts. Hitting distances I never saw in my irons since I was in high school.

very forgiving (coming from Nike VPC). A little harsh though on low hits. 5-7 irons a blast. 8-pw left me a little disappointed tho. Maybe that little speed slot makes a difference. Wasn’t as hot for me in the scoring irons.

I wanted distance so bad. But in hindsight I could see the gapping problems some people had. Even for a slow SS.

I was dead set on getting another set with proper shafts. But went back to players irons when I saw more accuracy (not even in the same planet at the 790 in distance though) in my recent fitting.
