Help! Nippon NS Pro (stiff) 1150 GH versus 950 GH

I played Dynamic Gold S300 forever (30+ years) and blades -- then 3 years ago got forged cavity backs (Mizuno M 25) with the 1150 GH (stiff shafts).

These have been fine.

Recently, saw a set of used Epon irons and hit them, just for kicks. They felt great. (Did not do any monitor evaluation).

They were 950 GH, stiff.

I figured the shaft is the difference. Does this (MAYBE) mean that the lightweight shafts (950 GH) are just better suited for me?

PS, in reading up on the 950GH, I found out it has a "cult-ish" following....a true classic shaft for 20 years. (Maybe the weight, bend, flex points etc just right).

Theres also the 1050gh which is right in the middle. IIRC they are 94g, 108g, and 116g for the 950/1050/1150 shafts.

The 950 S should still be much softer than the 1150 S. There's still a near 20 gram weight difference between the two.

I swing around 95 mph and like the 950 in R. Personally, I don't think they are that different than many other 95-100 gram iron shafts these days. I think they have a strong following as they were one of the first in this category. Are they better than others? Maybe a little bit but I think it's mainly whether the weight fits for your swing.

I played the 950GH stiff for a season (5 handicap, driver ss 95mph). While they are great shafts, my ball flight was way too high. I tried the 1150GH in another set, and they were way stiffer and the ball flight was significantly lower. Almost no comparison between the 2. I’d say the 1150GH played like an x-stiff shaft

I‘ve played PX 5.5 & 6.0 for 5 years now and have never found a better shaft for me. Totally lowered my trajectory, and I love the weight profile.

Besides the weight difference they are totally different profiles and fit different swings. 950 and 1050 are pretty much identical with profiles and the only substantial difference is the weight.

1150 is a different bend profile so if you can hit them both as one profile may be better for your swing than the other.

1150 is much stiffer in the tip and butt and a bit softer in the mid. Similar to the Modus 105/125 vs the 120.
