Is anyone still into True Length Technology (TLT) Fitting?

I played TLT about 6-8!years ago but went back to standard gapping. I found my old fitting charts recently and wondered if anyone is stilling playing TLT?

I'm still a TLT guy. The best thing I've ever done equipment wise for my game.

What makes the online fit worth $69 over just doing some math of your own?

I wondered the same. Using the dimensions of my favorite club as the baseline, the math seems straightforward. However, if head weight progressions are built off standard length progressions, then it seems there might be a need for significant weight adjustments to maintain constant swing weight.

I used it for a number of years. I still use my own variant. I basically play my long irons short, say -1", and my wedges less short, maybe -.25 or .5.  I think it is a great idea and much better than traditional length progression.   I did notice that my original specs based on TLT put everything much shorter than I needed to play. Generally lost height and distance.

I did find it took me years to figure out what I preferred in terms of lengths and swingweights.

I never did TLT. I build and played with two sets of single length irons. While they did not work for me, I did discover that I liked longer length high number clubs ala 8 to W's, but not shorter 3 to 6 iron. So now I basically build irons with with 1/4th of an inch difference in the higher number clubs. Example:

5 iron 38.5

6 iron 38

7 iron 37.5

8 iron 37.25 instead of 37

9 iron 37 instead of 36.5

W irons 36.75 instead of 36

YMMV

I've fit 2 or 3 players who were using TLT before and the numbers were less than ideal.  Huge gapping issues, very inconsistent contact, and so on.  I would chalk it up to an inexperienced builder or a hack fitter if they all came from the same place but these were from 2 different facilities both with similar results.  All clients moved on to traditional builds and saw immediate improvement in their scoring games, supposedly.  Just goes to show there is not one band-aid fix all for everyone.  Some love TLT, others hate it.  Some love OL, others struggle.  Some think conventional spacing is the way to go, others look to alternative methods and find success.

The only way to really know if it is for you or not is to go down the rabbit hole and try it.  I did and I shanked literally every club from the 8i on down at the range first time out that I took them into work right away and rebuilt them.  The long irons were fine but not enough of an improvement to say it was worth the wonky length progressions.

Sounds like the swing-weight and balance didn't fit you in the shorter clubs.  Not everybody fits into the typical progressive swing-weight and head heavy balance that a typical longer length short iron build produces
