CORE LIES YOU BELIEVE THAT DESTROY YOUR GOLF SWING

After two months of quarantine, a degree in Physics and a passion for the golf swing and getting better. I have discovered certain lies that we, as golfers believe will help us hit the ball farther, straighter or more consistently. No matter how good I can be hitting the ball, once I hit a bad shot and start thinking and adjusting technique, your game is doomed. From the moment someone swings a golf club for the first time, h/she begins to believe certain things, movements, positions that will help, fix, cure their golf swing woes. The problem is that most of the techniques out there, if not all of the them, have nothing to do with the most efficient and consistent way to swing a golf club. If this were so, then the pros would never "lose their swing," and the average golfer would be able to break 80 no problem. This is not the case until now. The discovery I have made has allowed me to hit the ball crazy good. 50 years old, 145 lb and hitting my 3-W 300 yards.

I am interested to hear what you guys think is the worst thing you might have ever believed about technique and swinging the golf club. What do you think is a lie you are believing you thought helped you golf game, but in fact destroyed it.I'll start.

You lost me at hitting your 3 wood 300 yards.

If you actually hit a 3W 300 yards then you might want to look into the senior tour and flip wedges all day after your 3W tee shots..

This is what comes of getting a degree in physics in one month. Only at Underthebridge University I guess.

Worst tip I ever got and actually tried for a while was yelling BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!! after contact on all my drives.

It might have got me 30+ yards carry a couple of times but it got me kicked off the course at the turn most of the time.

I discovered that eating plutonium donuts like homer simpson gives me 300yd shots with my 7 iron so I guess my way is better.

Swing to right field. Great way to swing under plane and flip the club through, that is if you don't get stuck and wipe it right.

I do agree on the shifting weight, shifting my weight to the rear foot tends to get me over the trail leg and not into it. Putting pressure on my lead foot helps get pressure into my trail leg.

But I'm pretty sure that no matter what I do, I won't get 300 yds out of my 3w, not even down hill, down wind in Denver. But I'd be happy with a consistent 240, so if you can teach that with just a rethinking of the swing, I'm game. The problem is, I have a degree in physics too, and all my thinking and analyzing hasn't helped one iota in hitting the ball farther. The things that help me are getting a setup that feels solid, a backswing that creates a lot of leverage on the club, and a hulk rotation to whip the club head through.

the guys in front of me yesterday hit it 220 off the tee but on all par 5's, when they were 300 out, into the wind twice no less, they waited for the green to clear

Use passive hands and arms, let the body drive the swing, that will naturally lag the club. Then let physics take over, to centrifugally release the club, automatically square the face. and effortlessly hit the inside quadrant of the golf ball. High hook for days. Easy peasy.

That is a terrible swing theory.

Put me down for getting the club to parallel in the back swing. So many people go way past (Daly) and come up short (Sanders) that it doesn't hold water for me.

I know a guy who bought into "keep your head down" so much that he dips down in his backswing.

Jon Rahm hardly brings it back at all. He can crush it.

Not sure he is going to post ever again... What can you do? Guess I'll go back to my very difficult golf swing that goes nowhere.

Working on the app that will be "FREE" on the app store. I really believe that it will change the game. Explains the history, concept, where Core Lies are birthed in all of us. Core lies...like the lower body lie that ruined golf?

How far back? As possible provided that you can accelerate the club from the end of the back swing to the ball. A guy who was an assistant at the Bear Creek golf complex at DFW airport. He took it back until his hands were shoulder high and from there could really move the ball.
