Precision Pro NX2

Has anyone tried this yet? Seem to be no reviews out there that I can find? It's the same as the old NX7 without the vibration feature--but the same price? So, the improved part is ... what?

I'm not quite understanding the concept other them trying to come out with a more modern looking design. I thought they were making good moves with the NX9, but this just makes me question the direction they're going.

Here's my thinking:

I have no interest in the slope feature and minimal interest in the vibration thing. I've read such good things about Precision Pro as a company and its cust service--and recent negative things about Leupold's cust service. PP also has a 90 day guarantee.In 2020, I'm assuming the gap for the basic functionality I want between PP and Leupold/Bushnell has shrunk quite a bit.If I'm gonna buy from PP, I might as well get their newest model -- the latest model that happens to fit the requirements I need. So, I just ordered an NX2. Will post comments after I have some experience with it.

Used the NX2 for a round yesterday. Worked great for me--yardage acquisition was easy and fast--maybe a second or so faster than my Leupold GX3 (circa 2010). I found the optics and magnification to be quite good.

It's a bit chunkier, lighter, and more plasticky/cheaper feeling than that Leupold. Nonetheless, assuming it proves to be durable (and PP stays in business and supports it!), I'm very happy with it for its purchase price.

Why not get the NX7 with pulse for the same price as the NX2?

It improved their bottom line?

"Improved Target Acquisition Technology"? Specious? For me personally, I had no interest in the pulse thing, so just wanted the latest tech from them. (Which may indeed include faster target acquisition)

I have the NX7.. Works great.. Easy to pickup the flags.

They have a battery replacement program that works..

I don't know. I see the NX2 as a replacement Nexus and the NX7 as the better tech. Seems the smarter buy is the higher tech NX7 at the same price, at least while it's on sale/available.

Hmmm. If so, my bad. Except ... so far I'm quite happy with my NX2, so ...

I don't mean to rain on your parade, just like you I'm trying to understand what the NX2 is. Figured this discussion might help others. I ordered a NX7 to give a shot. Can't go wrong at $150, I hope.

No problem at all! Like I said, quite happy with the price point and usefulness. (assuming durability holds up--and relatedly: chose the company because if its rep on this board.)

Just went online to order my first replacement battery. Hope it gets here soon. Hard a hard time picking anything up even though the display was working. The battery meter was showing no bars so I assume and hope that's the problem.

I always carry an extra CR2 battery in my golf bag. (They are cheap! I always thought precision pro’s battery service was smart cheap marketing.)

anyway, interested in hearing if the problem with the device is because of the battery being low on juice—or from a defective device.

90 day warranty is pretty weak. Bushnell and Leupold are 2 years and Nikon is 5 years.

90 days is “money back guarantee” period from PrecisionPro. They also have a 2-year Warranty.

Rec’d my first new free battery within 6 days and the unit works perfectly now. I was VERY happy to get accurate readings immediately even with trees in the background. The new battery revived the unit to "as new performance".

How are these working out for you? I can personally attest that you don't need the free batteries as I have personally provided free battery funding for life on this thing. ;)

Haha. Perfect Precision Pro advertisement right there. "Buy an NX2. The golf wagers you win from your buddy will pay for it and the batteries and then some."

Too bad your driver's obsolete. You can't be a proper GolfWRX member without constant golf equipment upgrades. ;)

I have the NX9 HD and it’s great! Had to send my old unit in and they replaced it with a new one in a week. Very happy with the company and the device.

I also have the NX9 HD and zero complaints. Got it last year and still showing 3 bars on the battery. Darn good performance on the course and the magnet is as solid as they come.

My NX2 did have trouble a couple times in my recent round in (light) foggy conditions. (It would read 10 yards from ~150 out). My old Leupold seemed to do fine in similar conditions. A bit of a bummer given that fog is common on the courses I play a lot.

Just an update. 3 weeks after installing the new/free replacement battery, the accuracy remains as does the strong lock-on vibration.

My point is that if you have trouble locking in an accurate distance or are getting dashes instead of numbers, replace your battery. And waving back and forth across a flag with trees behind it has worked for me as well.
