Scoring "par" with tees - no longer possible this season

One of the silly games I play during a round is seeing if I can end up with more tees in my pocket after the round than before. If I end up with the same number as when I started, I call that "shooting par". If I end up with more than I started with, I "broke par". Less, that's "over par". Generally, I'm pretty much a "scratch" player at this stupid little game. I don't go out of my way to find tees. I just pick up what I find as I'm strolling off the tee box.

But, with the current no-touch guidelines in place, I'm no longer picking up random tees I find on the tee box. No chance of breaking par for a while. Of course, chances of COVID transmission via a tee is probably miniscule, but it's just good practice to minimize contact wherever possible.

(Those of you who play on courses where they supply tees aren't eligible to play this game. Those courses are often filthy littered with extra tees.)

I couldn't stand having all of those tees in my pocket but what a fun game to play to keep things light.

I have noticed a dramatic increase in tees left in the ground at courses around the area, incl my club. It annoys me to no end, bc now I gotta touch your tee to get it out of the way.

So I can't finish off the cigars I find anymore?

Tuco didn't have a problem with it.

My game is to go out with no tees whatsoever and see if I can find enough for my purposes. I usually do. The problem with "Breaking Par" too often is you wind up with a ton of tees and they are usually half broken or so. Playing at public courses its pretty easy; at privates where tees get picked up it can be harder. (But they usually give you tees when you start)

I do the same thing with golf balls. I actually finished last season with probably 100 more balls than i started with. I'm still gonna pick up a good ball if i see one

Everyone should be as safe as they want, but i don't believe the guidance of late is that surface spread from something like a golf tee or a ball lying on the ground for however long, is really much of a transmission risk

Who puts Tees in their pockets???

Mine get tucked into my hat. Usually I have 2 tucked in there.

I joined a much nicer club recently, and one of the many small things that were different about it was that tees were available at every hole. Ball mark repair tools were too. I never had to worry about carrying enough of these things anymore. Could just show up and grab one if I needed it. Water bottles were available around the course also.

Now, not so much. I find myself scrounging around for tees all the time. It’s actually kind of funny if you think about it. But annoying too. And it is amazing to me that I have to think twice now before I grab a tee stuck in the ground or laying around the tee box. Sign of the times I guess...hopefully it will get back to “normal” soon.

Hmmm - I do and so do most players I play with. And I don't really accumulate a huge pile in my actual pants/shorts pocket. Extras get unloaded to the golf bag - consider it a "virtual" pocket.
