Get rusty patina back? Carbon scotty

So wanted to change the paint fill up and removed it from my old rusted scotty circa and the paint remover I left on overnight took off the rust! Now it has clean blotches around where I removed the paint! Anyway I can speed up the process and have it look like it did before. See photo. I played with it for years raw to get this patina and don't want to have to play with it for years again or should I just strip back to raw and start finish over? Anybody have photos of their rusted putter and the procedure they used? Thanks!

I don't think I have any from when I got it but it was close to raw. I gave it a clr bath and steel wool clean over the weekend. Still undecided on what I want to do with it

I’ll race you. I’m leaving mine to the elements with a bit of WD40 to lock it in over time.

Yeah I was thinking about just shafting it and playing it and letting it weather again! Going on vacation starting this weekend and perfect for early morning rounds and to rust! LOL

Ha I am down! Mine looked like that years ago and then I just let it go! Glad to know I can clean it up back to nice if I want! Yours looks good though!

I would think if you put the head in a zip lock bag with some water in it and laid it out in your lawn for several hours on a hot, humid, sunny day, that would do the trick. I haven't tried it but think it would be the perfect combination to cause it to rust quickly.

I think i will just go for the more patina rust look after playing with it. I do have a black oxide kit i want to try though

I would let it happen naturally. If you use any accelerants you’ll just end up pitting it.

+1! Would recommend this as well. Easy, controlled way to get it back to the rusty, raw look for $10.

love it! My goodwood is starting to rust that I have been using lately! I love it! I should post some of it! Still haven't done anything to this circa lol
