Really really stiff. I heard it's stiffer than PX 7.0. I think LA golf has an account here, Oly has done some Q&A... Perhaps he will jump in.

Ah, well hopefully an upgrade in position then.

I wonder if this is the start of the ultra stiff but smooth graphite iron shaft era. I haven't swung them yet but the butt torque on the MMT 125TX is pretty high, but I've seen reviews saying they still provide a strong flight. Reminds me of my Accra shafts... mega stiff tip section but high torque that feels really nice through impact.

Well... when the MMT's launched back in the winter, they were $100 a pop. Now they are $75. With more and more companies launching high quality graphite for better players, I think you'll start to see single shafts going for like $60-65 next year. It's certainly more expensive than steel, but theoretically, the graphite should provide better results and a much more fine tuned profile, not to mention possible softer feel and better for joints/hands.

I'm sooooo close to buying a 7i shaft off eBay to try out but I'm worried I'll love it then be on the hook to spend another $400 to finish off my set haha.

I would say unless you are producing swing speeds over 100mph with a 6i these are probably way too stiff. Remember Matt from TXG who can easily move it 120+ with a driver found the Torano DeChambeau Prototype to feel incredibly stiff and thought it was too much. These are not for your average X-stiff guys, these are for your 1% of the 1% who need (read that again need, not want) the most stable possible design in a super low-torque and flat flying profile. The guys who load it super hard and put a lot of stress on something with ridiculous ball speed.

I just do not see the appeal or need in having your wedge shafts so stiff.

They look amazing but as GF has said why the pokers in wedges? Many PGA pros drop a flex or go lighter in their wedges for more feel. I like my M5 as it has an S200 115g and ordered my RTX4 60 with a softer KBS than the hideously heavy S400.

Not that it matters all that much, but I think the great majority of pros are going heavier, if any different, in their wedge shafts.

You're 100% right here. His swing is so ingrained (as is everyone who makes it to the PGA/Korn Ferry levels) that it literally doesn't matter what shaft or head he uses unless it is WAY off. But even then, give him maybe 30 balls and some time alone and he'd have it figured out no problem. Bryon's idea of a golf swing is to keep the shaft as an extension of his left arm, as long as he keeps that face square/pointed at his target, the rest is going to care of itself. Plus, now that he's capable of putting 130mph into his driver and likely 110 into his 6i, he does truly need something that stiff. These shafts would be lucky to fit 1:5,000,000 players.

I love the 130X C-taper in my wedges as well as all the way through to my driving iron. Not sure if I like the weight or flex or both. I would definitely give one of these a try if they came out with the iron shafts. Any idea if any form of these will be coming to retail?

I thought the same thing, but once I added some distance to the game I ended up pretty much hitting driver wedge on most holes. I found that the increased response and familiarity of the X7 shaft in my pitching wedge sand wedge and sometimes even lob wedge on those wedge approach shots was some thing that really helped me get closer to the pin. I found very little Noticeable difference around the green

I agree with @elwhippy. The pros I have played with and talked to have shafts one flex weaker in wedges; TT X-100 in irons, S400 in wedges is quite typical. Though S400 is weaker flex its slightly heavier shaft with slightly softer tip section.

I just pulled a 125 stiff Steelfiber from my LW, not the kind of tip action I prefer. Went back to S200 in LW.

This is where the idea of fitting shows it isn’t a perfect science. I guarantee you that I could play these shafts with the exact same proficiency as my current shafts, and these don’t “fit” me at all.

I just have never bought into the “shaft is the engine of the golf club” theory. The player is the engine of the golf club. The player just needs a shaft that doesn’t get in the way. I’ll always believe that too flexible is immeasurably worse for most golfers than too stiff.

I agree that the shaft is not the engine. The shaft is solely a timing device. People get used to things. However, there is some emerging data that I have linked before (https://people.stfx.ca/smackenz/Publications/MacKenzie%202017%20The%20influence%20of%20golf%20shaft%20stiffness%20on%20grip%20and%20clubhead%20kinematics.pdf) that shows the proper flex for someone increases clubhead speed about 2.2mph. There is another article that I cannot find now that also documents this. Anecdotally, I have found in my fits that too stiff a shaft is worse than too soft, but hey, to each their own and everyone is different. I'd rather give someone the extra ball and swing speed and find a shaft weight that matches their timing then just blanket giving everyone 120-130g Stiff or 70g stiff driver shafts because it may help them hit it straighter. This isn't a comment about your experiences as everyone truly is different but I know a lot of fitters try to cheat it and go this route because they don't understand how to time up a shaft bend profile with a delivery style properly.

I hit them today at the shop. I actually didn't think they feel that bad nor are they overly stiff. So I take back what I said. They certainly CPM really, really high but the feel on them is similar to like a PX 6.5 or something equivalent. It definitely is not "Rebar" as the name suggests. I actually didn't mind them and could see myself playing them. I got good ball speed out of them as well, considering I was swinging much lower than I typically do today. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy them as I think there are things out there that feel better but they certainly aren't unplayable. Truthfully I think a C-Taper Stiff or an X100 feels much, much harsher and stiff.
