Are 17 year old ProV1’s still good?

Going through a bunch of my Dad’s golf stuff ( he passed away in Feb.) and found a sleeve of 2003 ProV’s.

They’ve been climate controlled all their life, and are still in the original sleeve.

Hesitant to play them because they’re wearing his crazy markings....lol

i've used some pretty old pro v1 balls in the past. 13 year old ones and i never noticed a difference.

My belief is that a ball won't make a huge difference. The sentimental side of me says to not play them because of the markings and who used to own them.

Looks like the True Feel stole his markings, lol. I think if they were in the house, they will play well. Maybe save one to remember him. I hope my son gets to use my golf stuff when I go. It's a nice present and it will keep me in his thoughts and remind him who introduced him to this great game.

Personally, I’d only tee those up on par 3’s. Get you a hole in 1 with your Dad!

And keep one untouched on your desk or somewhere .

Just seam the ball and watch it fly 15 yards further!

To this day I seam all my tee shots due to the first Pro V1s.

Those 392s were the best Pro Vs ever made.I still have a dozen brand new put up. A couple of summers ago I ended up with a bunch. A guy sells balls out of his back yard that he finds in the hazards. One day we were looking through the balls and I found 2 almost new 392. The guy was out there and he told me those were the "old Pro vs" I told him I knew and that was what I wanted. He said wait a minute. He went into his car port and came up with 5 dozen boxed all used of course. He asked if I would give him $10 for all. I could not get a 10 out of my pocket fast enough. Now not all of them were pristine but I think I got maybe 2 dozen front line playable balls out of that. The rest went into the vintage bag or the shag bag

Sorry got off the OP's track. What I would do is take them and have them cast in clear acrylic like the HIO award someone else posted.Save one for you and one for your son and the 3rd one for who ever you want to have it. But that is neat he left you a sleeve with his markings on it

Don't hit them. Find a display case for them. I'll send you a sleeve of balls. Save those for good memories.

I think I will just keep this sleeve, place one in a display.

I have his first set that he ever bought new, '69 W/S Bullet Backs. Might hit the local Par 3 course with those and one of them.

I lost my dad when I was 21. He got me into golf when I was a kid. I still keep one of his old golf balls in my golf bag as a good luck charm. Hang onto them they’re priceless.
