Titleist T100 vs Srixon z785

Has anyone tried these side by side and have insight on performance, feel, forgiveness, etc? I’m currently playing the T100s with KBS Tour S shaft, but not entirely feeling those irons. I was checking out the z785 as it looks like there is slightly more club behind the ball, maybe added forgiveness, and have hit the stock Nippon Modus 120 S shaft which feels great. Thoughts?

Side consideration would be Mixuno JPX919 Forged - bit of a different category of iron though.

Thanks all!

Tried the z785 versus T100s 7 irons today. Unfortunately I didn't realize there was a difference and ordered NS Pro 105 instead of modus 3 105 for an even comparison. But I felt like I found the middle of the T100s more. The t100s was a little better for taking a divot for my thin swing. I couldn't tell much of a difference on mis hits to be honest, but I think the real test is going to be on the course, side by side. The T100s felt like pure butter on centered strikes. I am impressed but I don't see much of a flight difference yet. Have a 623 demo coming in tomorrow and can't wait to try it out. Would try the 901 from NL but it seems to be too much like my 785 to justify trying.

@tim583 interested to see how your test goes. I'm going crazy here in Los Angeles because I can't demo any clubs in-store because of COVID. More of my misses tend to be fat shots (early release) with the occasional thin if I pull my head and stand up in my swing. In doing other research on these threads, a good amount have said the z785 v-sole is great for both steep and shallow swings, but do help a bit more for those that miss with fat shots.
I'm also a high ball hitter, so if anyone has feedback on how z785 would work on that front, that would be much appreciated!
New wrinkle in the decision making, do I go with all 785s or blended set with 585s in 4-5 or 4-6 irons.

This for sure. I have owned both and played extensively with each. Feel is a wash. 785 gave me those low spinners that flew forever where the t100 is extremely consistent. Better turf interaction for me with the t100 as well. Both are fantastic don’t get me wrong. I am hitting the t100 further but with more spin and better launch conditions so holding greens better. Both with modus 120 shafts too so pretty apples to apples.

That might be your experience and I may be way off here but I’m not buying that. There are quite a bit of 785’s on tour and few if any t100’s. I can’t imagine they would be playing clubs that give them inconsistent results.

I play CB’s and ordered a set of 785’s. Curious to see how they compare especially as I prefer a smaller head. There are a ton of 785 threads on here and this is the only one I’ve seen where the 785’s are not the preferred club but to each their own.

If you look at those threads there are a ton of comments about spin and getting some low spin flyers with the 785. Probably not the case for everyone but at least a few dozen of us have commented on it.

I do know comparatively the 785 are slightly lower spin, but shaft selection can fix that if its a problem. Never heard of flyer problems though, like what you hear about p790s. I gamed my 785 for almost a year and never had spin or flyer issues, but i play a slightly higher spin shaft (modus 105) and my swing speed is more modest than most here (100 with driver). And to respond to a few posts ago, my set starts with 5 iron and the z785 5 iron gets it in the air, no problem. In fact I probably flush that club more than my PW haha. I'm going to try the T100s again today and hopefully the demo new level blade will be in before I head to the range for more testing.
