Sweaty hands

Recommended Posts

Corded grips, multiple gloves, a couple dry towels and if you’re in a cart bring a cooler with wet towels and ice to cool your hands down before drying them.

I used to live in sacramento and summer golf was hot and humid. I would have issues with club slippage in my hand towards the end of a round as sweat soaked through my glove. I had one glove per nine and switched to corded grips. Worked like a charm.

It's not a grip issue, it's a sweat issue.

Treat the symptom.

There is a product called CertainDry that's OTC at most drugstores. Follow the instructions carefully.

If CertainDry doesn't work, there is a prescription strength formula called DrySol. It's strong, so, again follow the instructions carefully. This is the kind of stuff that you put under your armpits and you won't sweat for 6-7 days...even after showering every night.

I'm positive one or both of these products will solve the problem.

Best of luck.

Winn grips, being replaced, so got step 1 covered.

Having a damp towel to wipe grips and hands, and another dry towel to dry same prior to hitting shot.

I'm from TX, so it's pretty hot, don't use a glove and the above works for me.

If using a glove, need 2-3 to rotate hole by hole to allow to dry - hang them on bag or cart roof support. Take glove off between shots if sweat profusely.

YMMV :-)

I’m qualified to chime in here since I have hyperhidrosis.

I have a 4 pronged attack:

1) soak myself in aluminum chloride the night before (I usually do this a few times a week in the summer anyway). Ideally a few consecutive nights for max effectiveness. If you can’t get an Rx, the poster above named some OTC options. Generally these are liquids, but there’s also creams (carpe, arrid) that you can get at the drugstore. Contrary to some opinions, they are safe to use - just don’t ingest or get in the eyes. Before the organic crowd opines, I work in pharmaceuticals and have used these agents for a long time, have seen the data around them, and have spoken at length with a number of PhD pharmacologists and chemists about various formulations.

2) Grips - I used to play heavily corded grips and recently switched to leather. Either one will work but IMO leather is superior. They’re incredible. They’re more expensive but in the long run they last so much longer you probably save money. Especially compared to Winns which in my experience are the least durable grips out there.

3) Play with a few clean towels - have one on the bag, one in the cart, can even cut a small one for your pocket so you always have access during the round. Giving the hands a wipe and grips a wipe helps a lot

4) Use a few gloves. With leather I don’t even use the gloves all the time, but generally I’ll rotate about 3 during a round. Because nothing worse than a soaked glove - they’re useless and will rip right through when wet. If you’re playing in a cart, wrap the used ones around the vertical bar going to the canopy/roof and will help dry them out.

I just went through this today at the range with my daughter. She has gloves for both hands, but usually just wears her left.

Well, it was amazingly humid today here on the Treasure Coast and sweat was everywhere and on everything. I was 12' away from her walking over to my son and I hear, "look out" as her 6i bounced off my leg.

Looked down at the club, and the grip was coated with sweat. "OK, I think it's time to put your other glove on."

Florida summers FTW.

I have this problem sometimes and it sucks. Golf is hard enough. When you're standing over the ball and you're thinking about how the grip is going to slip in your backswing it is brutal.

here's another product to try, in conjunction with the rosin bag: Amazon.com : Unique Tourna Tac Rag - Tacky Cloth Grip Enhancer for all Sports, White, X-Large (TRAG-WXL) : Tennis Racket Grips : Sports & OutdoorsIt's cheap and provides temporary tac on your hands and you can put in on the grip itself.

Gorilla Grip. We live in Florida and find the Dri-Tac Grips to be the best. You just have to change often as they are not the most durable. You can get a foam to put on them that helps keep them longer.

I am GenX.  If you really think I care about what you have to say, I don't.

Better grips helps we replace grips a lot with corded grips but if you only in Florida for a few weeks maybe Gorilla Grip will help.

honestly I think the body just adapts after a while. The bigger thing is drink plenty of water and make sure you replenish electrolytes with a sport drink and don’t push things if your not used to heat.
