How long should it take to play 18 holes with 4 single carts, and nobody in front of you?

With some courses now allowing single rider carts, I was wondering how long it would/should take for the first 4ball of the day to play 18 holes, with carts. A lot of this obviously comes down to the players themselves. I've been in foursome that could walk 18 holes in 3-3.5hrs, but I've also been in groups where it's taken much longer. That being said, on average how long would you say that it would take to play a round with 4 single carts, with nobody ahead of you?

Under 3 hours

Depends on the guys you are playing with but this is what I experienced playing from the whites. I prefer to play from the Blues. If the guys are pretty good and do not waste any time maybe 2 1/2 hours.

I think 1 player per cart really speeds things up. I am not sure if it tears the courses up more.

We do it regularly in 3 hrs or less. And it doesn't feel rushed. We play ready golf so there's very little idle time.

Under 3 is the answer. WE play around 3:20-3:35 these days as a walking foursome. Carts should be attest 30min faster.

Less than 3 hours, if nobody loses balls..

If it's Cart path only (because of wet grass) add 45 minutes.

I think for average players, 3-3.5 is a solid number. I know when there is no one holding me up, I can play really fast. I have to tell myself to slow down a bit all the time because I sometimes don’t think enough about the shot or aftermath of the shot. If I was playing behind said foursome, I would have no issues if they played at the 3-3.5 hour pace.

First group of the day, 3-3.5 hours, and I'm being generous with their time allotment.

Good point about cart path only! That's the wild card.

A normal, sociable round of golf a little under / over 3 hours. If rushing to get done as fast as possible, it can be done in 2:15-2:30 max. Assumes no looking for balls, everyone playing ready golf, etc.

It depends on the course and the skill level of the golfers. My home course always takes a bit longer to play because it's hilly and there are a TON of blind shots (it's kind of known in these parts as "that course with the blind shots"). So, even if you hit a decent shot you're left searching for balls pretty frequently.

When we're playing with someone who is in the 20+ handicap range, and especially someone who has never played there before, rounds can end up being brutally long because you're constantly searching for balls.

So for my course, I'd go more with the 3:30-4:00 range.

That's every course in Western PA.

Blind shots don't matter if its the first group of the day. If every person has their own cart the pace should be under 2 hours.

I would expect walkers in that situation to be around 3 hours mostly under, carts less, if everyone has their own cart substantially less. That should be with out getting 4' gimmies. This issue is that a lot of people do things other than play golf when they are on the golf course.

I think "would" and "should" are obviously very different. I would imagine the average would be 3:30 to 3:45 hours because most players are slower than they think

It's certainly realistic that a faster group could play in under 3 hours.

Nothing worse than watching two people share a cart where the second person sits in the cart and watches his partner hit his second shot, put his club away, then drives 10 yards to his ball.

It should be MAX 2:45-2:55 hrs if you have four golfers of reasonable ability that ALL play ready golf and don't spend 2 minutes picking an iron and looking at putts from all 4 sides

Did the world learn anything from DJ at Seminole? Guys like JB Holmes and De Shampoo are sending the wrong message to the masses IMO

I know on my own I can comfortably do 50 minutes per 9

I remember reading about a round from i think it was Ryuji Imada, maybe 6-7 years ago. He was playing alone in last place of a tournament on the Sunday, and went out and played in 1:57 while shooting under par on a 7000+ yard course. THAT is gangster

Not true. Many tracks that have blind tee shots also have severely sloping fairways and if you don't have much local knowledge you can hit what you think is a ball that should easily be found in the fairway that finds its way to the rough and you have little perception other than guessing where you think it landed.

I hate seeing that when people are 50+ yards apart. Drop the guy that is away off at his ball with his clubs and he walks up to the cart after hitting. So many people think driving a cart entitles you to only have to walk from cart path to tee and cart to green.

+/- 3 hours. The first group at our club plays lightning fast ... They are usually 1:45 for 18 holes with a foursome. They are crazy in terms of hitting when ready, not marking balls, and the like. I've dubbed them " The Rodeo" !

Should not be more than 2.5 hours.

We play 5 while walking in 3:30-3:45....4 players in jets, we'd be done in 2 easy. (while still lining up shots given some money games on the line).

Right, this is exactly what I'm talking about. We're hitting blind shots to aggressively sloping terrain. There are several holes where I'll hit a ball down the right side of the fairway and know that it'll probably end up somewhere in the left rough, and the distance is a total mystery since it depends on which part of the slope I hit. Without local knowledge, it can be nearly impossible to find your ball at times. Even with local knowledge it's not always easy.

This was our “normal” for several years. We were normally around 2:30. If we added a fifth guy it was usually right around 3:00.
