Keeping white gear clean?

Alright I love the look of white hat, white belt and white shoes on the course. I know how to keep white shoes looking good, don’t wear them if it’s going to rain or after it has rained, clean them up after a round, I treat my white shoes like they are made of gold. Belts don’t really get that dirty. BUT white hats, good lord they just get so dirty so quickly and I have no clue how to keep them clean. Any advice on how to get white hats looking clean?

Why I rarely buy white any more, especially hats. Get one of those washing machine hat holders, put in a laundry bag (usually used for delicates like wifey's lingerie), lots of pre-treatment, good detergent, wash in hot water....gets pretty clean but some stubborn sweat stains may never come out.

I use the top rack of dishwasher in one of the hat holders. Dishwasher detergent has a small amount of bleach and seems to work quite well. Depending on the hat you can usually wash a couple times before it breaks down.

Warm soapy water after the round to get rid of the salt stains. Let dry and then treat with the sweat stain spray. Works like a charm.

I never wear white shirts but I do have a few white hats. When they’re new I spray them with Camp Dry (blue lid) and it seems to help keep them white a bit longer.

I keep a tide stain remover pen in my bag (excellent as a hot dog mustard eraser), and use Scotchguard to prevent staining of white golf shoes and magic eraser for occasional cleanup (in addition to hot towel). Also use a shoe dryer (works for work & Snowboarding boots too) between rounds to maintain shoes & to keep foot stink at bay.

If you clean them right away after you wear them they will come clean but most will get lazy and let the stains set in and then they are more difficult to get out. You can still get them out but it will take some Oxi clean or vanish stain remover and probably some elbow grease. I am former military and baseball player and am used to shining boots and cleaning uniforms everyday knowing that it's going to get scuffed up the next day so I clean my gear right when I walk in the door out of routine. Clubs, clothes, shoes, and all. That is the main thing to keep them clean is to clean them right away. I soak my pants and shirts in Oxi Clean or Vanish stain remover while clean my clubs and shoes and then I take a brush to any stains to break them up and then I get them in the washing machine. Amazing how long you gear will last if you clean them every time that you wear them, it is tedious, but worth it in my opinion.

Someone on here years ago said you can actually spray Febreeze on a white hat until it's saturated and it will get rid of the sweat stains and stuff like that. I think his son was a college baseball player and they wore white hats. I've done it and it works with the minor stuff (great option for the night before the round). I just make it a point of every now and then handwashing it with some laundry detergent and hanging it to dry.

Put laundry detergent in a bowl of cold water and mix. Rub the item with a toothbrush (white bristles) with the soapy water mixture. Wipe clean with a rag (white) that’s soaked in cold water. Repeat as necessary.

You can also use scotch guard (furniture kind) as a protectant.
