Fair enough. I guess we'll see! Hopefully they still keep some sort of X Forged UT line.

While I'm guessing the X Forged is dead. I'd still expect to see a one piece forged CB under a different name, as well as a new MB. Maybe something completely new too. Who knows.

We're hearing that with a few minor exceptions from Cleveland and Titleist and a couple others, every other company is waiting until the PGA Show to make their releases. COVID was too much for them and the losses are major. I wouldn't be shocked if the blowout pricing wouldn't begin in earnest in September or October to get ready for 2021.

As a Callaway customer- the problem wasn’t the crossover it’s the release pattern. Either release it together (like Titleist) or space it out more. Release all the Apex stuff together for combo sets. They are trying to improve their release cycles but keep making some mistakes (like bringing out the new Apex MBs in 2018 with X Forged rather than with the new Apex and Apex Pro)

Personally I like the idea of the X Forged staying in the line but on a much longer release and we’ve seen that in the past. The 2013 X Forged weren’t updated until 2018. Those irons sort of have a cult following and the 2013 version might be their best overall iron ever IMO. Yes I know they had Apex and Apex Pro in between but still. Just release new X Forged every 3-5 years and the Apex line every 2 years. But keep Apex stuff together and they can release their rotating brand name (XR, Rogue, Mavrik) cast option every year or every other year as they please.

I think it's more of a baking issue than anything. The Apex MB and the X Forged share more in common than with the Apex & Apex Pro. I think the biggest issue is that they look so different aesthetically. The finish is different, head shapes seem significantly different. They don't seem to blend well at first glance.

If I were a betting man, I'd say looking at their trademarks, they still release one piece forged irons. But instead of Apex MB and X Forged, we see Apex Forged and Apex CB. Hopefully, they design them with the combo set in mind.

They really should get rid of the Apex name. It served its purpose, now it just does not make any sense. I get it, the current Hogan irons company is tiny compared to Callaway, but it is there and a simple google search gets you the relationship between Apex history and Hogan clubs. Even though you cannot buy Apex from Hogan, the relationship to Callaway is pretty much non-existent. So why use the name?

This is the perfect time for Callaway to clean up the product lines and streamline a bit. And please, get a forged CB back out there for the masses that doesn't have space dust/ cup face, 360 gas, foam juice, and all the other nonsense. A tungsten plug hidden away in long irons, fine, but all this other stuff is ridiculous, save it for the game improvement lines, I just want my irons to look/feel consistent from top to bottom.

Callaway spacejams.. now brought to you by the minds of actual aliens who love golf ?...bee boo boop. Anywho.. i dont think cally is going to get away from all the jargon and just go clean speaking... like heres a club we forged it milled it sleeked it its super soft and consistent now play. Not going to happen.. more like... this just in dr allan hocknell spilled his morning coffee on the super computer while the new line of clubs were in the incubator... then all of a sudden the light started going on and off wildly electricity was eveywhere and a voice spoke from within the super computer saying... done done done velocity blades... the incubator door opend with smoke and dr alan hocknell pulled out the brand new 2021 callaway velocity blades brushed silver with semiglossy dark purple...7 clubs bow available for $1199.99.. mr hocknell first shot with a full pitching wedge flew well over 200 yards which is a tottal gain 89 yards per iron.. true technology gains only brought to you by callaway.

While the volume will be much higher on "spacejams", the margin will be better on X forged. The club is already designed, just tweak the cavity a bit and update the grooves, done and done. X forged will never be a large volume product, but it is an easy sell with little marketing needed. Why give up that market to Titleist, TM, and Mizuno?

And sorry, while others are arguing they cannot get rid of the Apex name because it is such a big seller, it is going to go sooner rather than later. It's not their name, not their heritage. It's borrowed. And really, if ten years ago they decided to go with a different name other than Apex, but all the designs the same, all the marketing the same, would the sales be any different? I don't think so...IIRC, when first launched Apex did not exactly garner praise. The first sets were panned on this site until Cally got it right. So Cally can make just about any name work for awhile.

Not borrowed but purchased. The only thing that the Ben Hogan brand has in common with the brand back in the day is the name. Also, purchased. Not knocking the new Hogan. They make some beautiful clubs.

Apex has been a huge success for Callaway, why would anyone expect them to abandon it now? To let another company use it to appease some golfers sentimental nature? They built up an image using that name. If anything, I expect them to double down on it. Just a guess.

It's not abandon, it's transition...move on. Just like they did with X-series irons. Callaway sold a ton of X-12,14,16,18,20,22...did I leave any out?...and went off that name.

It's just my POV, Callaway Apex never really felt right to me as a name; it always sounds "temporary" because it is not grounded in their history. But maybe I am at risk of sounding like those wonks clinging on to statues; so I will get off my soapbox ;)

Still want a new X forged! Unless of course it looks ugly like the 2009 version, then don't bother!
